Description of the walk

Park in the harbour car park.

Yellow markings

(S/E) Leave the car park via the north exit and descend to the right towards the port. After about 80 metres, opposite the tree-top adventure course, turn left to climb towards Ville Garnier. When you reach the street, turn right and follow it to a crossroads. Turn right.

(1) At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue la Ville Garnier, which becomes a path after 100 metres. Follow the path, which veers south-east, then turns left and runs along the top of the cliff with the old town below. Continue along the path until you reach Chemin des Hauts de la Houle.

(2) Continue along the path for 50 metres and turn right onto the path leading down the steps. Then turn right onto Rue de la Roulette and arrive at the junction with the D235.

(3) Turn left onto Rue du Port, which climbs towards the church on the right.

(4) Continue straight ahead to Rue du Marché, turn right, then go to Rue Duquesne, which leads to Place de la Victoire. Head towards Saint-Malo and, after about ten metres, turn right to pass in front of the Cancale museum.

(5) Take Rue Hamon Vaujoyeux opposite, then at the roundabout take Rue de Port Briac for 650 metres until you reach a three-way junction.

(6) Turn right onto Rue de la Manceliére, then left and finally take the first right onto Rue de la Colombiére. This road becomes a footpath after 60 metres. Turn right to join a footpath on the left leading to the Sentier des Douaniers.

Red and white GR® markings

(7) When you reach the path, you will see Île des Landes and the Herpin lighthouse, and even Mont Saint-Michel on a clear day. Take the GR® on the right. Caution: steep descent.

(8) At the crossroads, stay on the GR® on the left, continue along the coastline and arrive at Pointe de la Chaîne , which offers a beautiful view of the bay, the rock of Cancale and Île des Rimains.

(9) Continue on the GR® to reach Pointe du Hock, still following the coastline.

(10) Continue along the path to Pointe des Crolles, passing the flagpole and war memorial on your right. Take Rue Quai Admis en Chef Thomas on the right, then Rue des Parcs down to the lighthouse (oyster beds on your right).

(11) At the lighthouse, turn right onto Quai Admis en Chef Thomas and walk along the beach, staying on the promenade. Pass the fish market and continue until you reach the marine anchor.

Yellow markings

(12) Cross the street and turn onto Rue Amiral Courbet. At Rue des Jeux (narrow street), turn left and then keep left to reach the harbour car park. (S/E)
