The starting point of the walk is at Port de Saint-Gervais, south of Vinay, on the south bank of the Isère.
(S/E) Leave the Port car park and follow the banks of the Isère downstream (towards the south-west). You’ll cross a small stone bridge over a stream. The road turns left; follow it to reach the D1532 and cross it using the designated crossing. Continue straight ahead and turn right at the next junction. Just before the small hamlet, turn left onto a small path at the corner of a house (it is very inconspicuous). You will emerge opposite the municipal wash house (water point). Turn right. The street bends at a 90° angle twice
(1) You arrive near the church, in the village square (water point). Continue straight ahead. Pass the primary school and take the first alleyway on the left at the square. Cross the esplanade, running alongside the cemetery (water point along the wall, outside).
(2) In front of you, you will see the sign for “Rovon – 225m”. Take the road that climbs alongside a walnut grove (Chemin du Mollard). Follow the yellow/green markings. At the sign for “Les Buissières – 235m”, turn left. The small road turns into a dirt track. Ignore a path branching off to the left. At a fork in the road, take the left-hand path (you’ll still see the yellow/green markings). You’ll enter the hamlet of Les Rez.
(3) In the hamlet, turn right onto Chemin des Rez, heading towards the oil press, which you will pass. The small road curves naturally to the right. In a walnut grove, ignore the two paths branching off to your left and climb, slowly but surely, up Chemin des Gorges du Gorgonnet. You climb with the cliff on your right and the precipice on your left. It has a special atmosphere. Even though the path is wide and even up to the footbridge, keep a close eye on the children. In places, there is no parapet.
(4) When you reach the sign for “Passerelle de la Gaffe – 330m”, head down to the left. You can explore both banks and enjoy this special spot. Once you’ve crossed the footbridge, head back up a fairly wide track, which you’ll take on the left when you’re ready to set off again. You’ll soon arrive in a small valley, which you’ll walk down.
(5) At the sign for “Le Moléron – 300m”, follow the stony path on the left. Be careful: very soon you’ll spot, on the right, a path that’s barely visible at first. It leads to a pig farm (no pun intended)... Once you reach the farm, take the road down to the left. Very soon, you’ll see a sign for “Réservoir de la Gabouille – 280m”. Head down to the left. You’ll come to a road at a hairpin bend. Follow the road down to the right.
(6) When you reach the sign “sous le Rocher – 225m”, continue along the small road to the left. Follow it until the signpost directs you to turn left.
(7) You’ll soon come to a small bridge over a river, followed by a sign for “Le Pont de La Drevenne – 198m”. Continue your descent along the small road. When you reach the Croix de Rebichon, turn right. The small road winds through the walnut groves. Pass a dead-end on your right.
(8) You come out onto a small road (sign for “Chamounier – 200m”). Turn right and return to the D1532, but this time you’ll have a traffic light to help you cross. Continue straight ahead (be careful, there’s no pavement or hard shoulder for a short while). Your street curves naturally to the right, taking you back to the bridge where you started and to your car park (S/E).
