The route starts from the centre of Aubazine (abbey church).
(S/E) Take the D 48 road towards Cornil/Le Chastang.
After 50 metres, take the Tulle road on the left (D 130). After 70 metres, leave this road and take a steeply ascending street on the right (signposted Canal des Moines) and continue up the steps leading to the D 48.
(1) Take the tarmac path opposite which climbs towards the canal (signposted Canal des Moines). Follow the Canal des Moines for 1.2 km, passing the climbing cliffs, and leave it on the right 50 m before the terminal water intake.
(2) A wooden footbridge below is visible and allows you to cross the Ruisseau du Coiroux. Take the path, sometimes equipped with log steps, located on the other side of the stream and follow it upstream for 700 m to a new footbridge that allows you to cross the stream again. 70 m further on, after a short climb, you will reach a carriage road which you take to the right, descending to cross the Coiroux stream and a tributary on the left bank.
(3) Then turn right onto the difficult carriageway that climbs uphill. Follow it for 1.1 km, ignoring the paths leading off to the right or left.
(4) After passing meadows on your left, take a road on the right that leads back down slightly. 700 m further on, ignore a larger road on the left that goes uphill and take the one on the right. After a flat section passing the remains of an old quarry, this road veers to the right and downhill, eventually leading to the road that goes up to Palazinges.
(5) Follow the road downhill for 550 metres, passing the hairpin bend to reach the D 130 road, and follow it to the right for 450 metres towards Aubazine.
(6) Take the road on the left and follow it to the Clèdes houses. Pass the few buildings and take the path on the left that crosses the meadows, making a large circular loop to the right. You will then reach the Way of St James, which you should follow to the right for 600 m. Don't miss the path that turns back to the left (otherwise you will arrive at the fish farm less than 100 m further on).
(7) The path zigzags down to the Coiroux stream, which you cross via a footbridge downstream from a waterfall. From there, leave the gorges via the path that zigzags back up to a horizontal path.
(8) Follow it to the right for 300 metres until you reach a street going up to the left (you can often see a few goats on the right below, which are the subject of the traditional Aubazine goat fair). A few dozen metres further on, take the street on the right, passing through a porch under a house. You will then find yourself back at the central square in Aubazine (S/E).
