Parking is available on the left at the edge of the D1 road at the southern entrance to the village of Saint-Jean-de-Buèges.
Contrary to what the map suggests, there are no signposts on this route.
(S/E) From the car park, walk back towards the village for a few dozen metres and turn right onto the Pont de la Place. Follow the Rue Quartier de la Terre to the right, away from the village. Leave a path on your left and continue to the top. A sign warns that the path is impassable to vehicles and descends to a fork.
(1) Continue right on the path and arrive at a ford. Stones have been placed to help you cross, but to avoid slipping, it is best to take off your shoes and cross with your feet in the water.
Reach the right bank of the Buèges and continue along the path. Leave the other fords to avoid crossing the river.
The route is easy, just keep to the path or trail closest to the water, even if it veers away from it at times. You will come to a crossroads.
(2) Take the path coming from the right and continue to the left. Stay on the left-hand track and continue to a small footbridge over the river.
(3) Cross the bridge and you will come to a car park. Continue along the path on the left, go through the gate and start climbing. For about 1.5 km, the path climbs and moves away from the river. After a wide bend, the path comes to the first fork.
(4) Turn left onto the path and continue for 250m until you reach a crossroads marked by a cairn. Leave the path and follow the trail downhill to the left to return to the banks of the Buèges.
Continue along the path to the right to go back up the river. Once again, stay on the tracks as close to the water as possible to take a short break if you wish. Join the path at the crossroads near the first ford.
(1) Go up the path on the right and follow the same path back to the car park (S/E).
