Parking in Rosières-sur-Barbèche, on the left side of the church. Yellow-blue markings.
(S/E) Visit the little church, if the door is open. Go back to the rear of the church towards an old Michelin signpost and the start of the "Circuits pédestres du Doubs" hiking routes. Then turn left into Rue Principale, towards Rive de la Barbèche. At the bus shelter, there is a three-way junction. Turn left onto Rue des Penney, passing in front of a beautiful old house. The road quickly becomes stony. Immediately, there is a fork in the road. Go down to the left. Leave a stony path on your right. There are beautiful views of the Lomont wind turbines and Belvoir hill.
(1) The path ends at the edge of the woods. Follow it to the left for about 150 metres. At the four fir trees, go down the wooded hillside via the path on the right, which is steep and likely to be slippery in wet weather. Cross the stream via a rather precarious mossy plank bridge. Then turn right onto a short stretch of quiet tarmac road. To avoid a small section of this, you can go down to the right into the strip of meadow that borders the Barbèche. At the end of this, you will rejoin the road and, 100 metres further on, at the signpost, take the path on the right that runs alongside the river. You will rejoin the road until the junction with the D36. Set off again along the river via the path on the right.
(2) You will arrive at the hamlet of Champ du Moulin and its pottery workshop. Turn right and after La Barbèche, turn left onto the stony path. Immediately pass a path on your right, then at the next fork, climb up to the right into the pasture. There are some lovely views of the valley. The path turns right. When it forks, take the left-hand path uphill.
(3) A little further up, at the new fork, continue straight ahead on the right-hand uphill path. At the pasture, follow the hedge. At the last fence, continue along the hedge on the left and then the fence. With Péseux in sight, at the two modern wooden houses, look for the small wooden ladder in the fence, then the other one opposite. Go down the street between the two houses and turn right towards the village centre. At the small square, turn left towards the church. There is a beautiful 17th-century statue of Saint-Gras above the porch.
(4) Then turn left after the church. At the last houses in the village, leave Impasse des Crêts and, at the fork at the foot of the calvary, continue left along the quiet cul-de-sac for a short stretch of tarmac road, which will reward you with beautiful views across the valley.
(5) At the top, after walking along a hedge of trees on your left for about a hundred metres, look for the small wooden ladder in the fence on your right. Climb up the pasture towards the fir tree plantation. You will find signposts again. Head towards the fir tree plantation and a new small ladder that allows you to enter it. You will arrive at another pasture overlooking the village and the entire valley.
(6) Opposite the church, you will come to a fence. Look for another ladder on the left and the small path that descends the wooded hillside on the other side. You will arrive at the pretty farmhouse of the Derrière la Roche lodge. Cross the pasture towards a long building opposite. Go up to the right until you pass the large Rondots farm. A hundred metres further on, go down to the right along the stony path.
(7) Turn right onto the main road until you reach the entrance to the village. Turn left after the first house onto the stony path that passes in front of the Chapelle de Saint-Gras. Continue downhill to the church of Rosières along this stony path (S/E).
Rocky and slippery paths in places. Sturdy footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended. Beware of ticks!
