(2) Opposite the water tower, turn right, ignore the path on the left and continue along the path straight ahead. At the T-junction, turn left and follow the path to the road.

(3) Turn left, walk past the sewage treatment plant on your left and continue along the path to join the road. Cross the road and take the D479 opposite towards Les Grandes Dalles; continue to the second turn-off on the right, just before the beach, the Sentier des DouaniersGR®21.

(4) Turn right and continue along the Sentier des Douaniers on the cliff, with the sea on your left. Follow the path to the end and take the Chemin du Moustier opposite, until you reach the Y-junction.

(5) Turn right at the three-way junction and continue along the path. Ignore two paths on your left and follow the path as it bends to the right and then at a right angle, to reach the road, Chemin du Bois, in the village of Sassetot-le-Mauconduit.

(6) Continue straight ahead along Chemin du Bois. At the end, at the T-junction, turn right. Follow the bend to the left onto Rue des Vingt Quatre Marches, ignore the road on the right and continue to the T-junction.

(7) Turn left onto Rue des Grandes Dalles, pass the sports ground on your right, go past the entrance to the ground and continue to the next road on the right, Rue du Moulin.

(8) Ignore Rue du Moulin and continue straight on, along Rue de l'Abbé Lemaitre. At the next junction, continue straight on, ignoring a turn-off to the right. At the next Y-junction, keep right, following the bend until you reach the exit from Sassetot-le-Mauconduit.

(9) A few metres after the village exit sign, turn into the first path on the right to join the road at a T-junction and leave theGR®21

(10) Turn left onto Chemin des Dalles to reach the village of Ancretteville. Turn right at the first road, Rue de la Mairie, pass the church to reach an X-junction with a wayside cross. Turn left onto Route de Saint-Pierre, until you reach the first crossroads. Turn right onto Route de Sassetot; at the next crossroads, continue straight ahead. Pass the driveway leading to Angerval Castle on your right, then ignore the road ahead towards Écretteville-sur-Mer.

(11) Follow the D68 road to the left as it curves left, then take the first track on the right (marker 104), heading due west, after about 500m, and follow it until you reach the road at a bend.

(12) Take the road on the left. After a small pond on the left, at the T-junction in the hamlet of Clainville, turn right onto Rue Montmare. Turn right at the first road, Impasse du Bois Joli.

(13) Continue along the path ahead. At the building on the left, turn right (caution: unmaintained path with some gullies) to reach the road. Turn right and continue to the crossroads. Ignore the D79, turn right, go up Rue de la Mer and continue to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely walk; the end of the route involves a long stretch through the woods, which isn’t easy going – the path is rutted and cluttered with branches.

A pleasant route. The valley section is truly stunning. About 2 km before the end of the route described, the path becomes very difficult to walk on: it’s overgrown with brambles. It’s badly damaged by erosion, but it’s still passable. If nothing is done, it won’t be passable at all. That would be a real shame. Yet at this time of year, the vegetation is less lush 😊.
What’s more, there are picnic spots at various points, complete with tables: pure luxury.
A lovely walk.

Hello, hike on 25 July 2024
A beautiful but challenging hike
It’s a shame that the final section is practically impassable
The path that winds through the lovely woodland before the sewage treatment plant is completely
overgrown with brambles and nettles and the entrance to this path after the farm buildings is almost invisible.
Without GPS guidance, it’s difficult to follow this part of the route
What’s more, this path is completely rutted, I think due to the rain.

A lovely route, which I did in the spring, winding between land and sea, through valleys and along cliffs. The countryside is lush and green in the spring, with magnificent views. I altered the route at Sassetot to go past the castle. The final stretch after point 12 is stunning—a sunken valley—though the path is not well maintained.
I would still recommend it, though.
