Access: located south of Tours on the RN10. At the northern entrance to Montbazon (before the Indre bridge when arriving from Tours), park on the right in the "Esplanade de Val de l'Indre" car park behind the Tourist Office and opposite the campsite.
(S/E) The starting point is the footbridge over the Indre, accessible from the car park.
Discover the old and new beds of the Indre by walking around the "parc de loisirs" peninsula. Leave the island via the small duck bridge, continue through the car park and take the small passage on the right to reach Rue de la Butte Rabault.
(1) Turn right and follow the quiet road until you reach a Y-junction.
(2) Continue along the fishermen's path on the right and follow the Indre river for 4 km. At the end of the path, turn right and follow the Monts road for 200 m (be careful, there is a lot of traffic).At the top of the hill on the left, you will see the Château d'Artigny.
(3) At the Montbazon sign, turn left to enter the forest. Follow the zigzagging path to cross the hill and join a small road (Allée du Puits d'Artigny). Take a detour to the right to see the château, or turn left to join Rue de la Poitevinière.
(4) To cross the built-up area, take the path opposite and follow the red and white markings ofthe GR®46A, which crosses the residential area.
(5) Keep left on an unpleasant road, Rue des Lac d'Amour, then turn right onto Rue du Professeur Guillaume Louis.
::6: Opposite the school, turn right onto Allée du Parc, which offers a beautiful view of the keep, go down the steps and join the RN10. Follow this road to the right for 100 metres and head towards the keep on the left via the road that climbs up to the entrance to the fortress.
(7) Follow the red and whiteGR®46Asigns on the Chemin de Bazonneau, turn left at the water tower, then right at the farm with a horse paddock on your left. Follow the path through the old orchards (not visible) to the smoked glass office building.
(8) After a break at the rest area, turn left to the upper lake (Domaine du Lac, with orchards on the other side of the estate)
(9) Turn left and continue along the path that runs alongside the lower lake. When you reach the Route du Creuzot, turn left and join the D250.
(10) Turn left and join Rue des Moulins, a pleasant street with the keep on your left, the mills on your right and the return to the town via its eastern gate.
(11) On the right between numbers 35 and 37, take the discreet Ruelle des Anges and make a detour to the wash house behind the town hall. All the shops are located on the town hall square. Continue to the RN10, turn right and join the bridge over the Indre. After the bridge, on the left, a passage leads down to the car park (S/E).
