Access: From Tours, take the D943 towards Loches, then, shortly after leaving Chambray, turn right towards Esvres. Cross the village and, after passing the church, turn right at the three-way junction. Take the first road on the right, which crosses the Indre river, then turn left just before crossing the railway line. Continue along this road, which further on crosses the railway line again. Leave your car in a parking space just on the other side of the railway line.
Please note! This route is not signposted as such
(S/E) Continue south on the road until the next intersection.
(1) Turn left and cross the bridge over the Échandon. The small road climbs and crosses the Bois Renaud neighbourhood, heading east to reach the hamlet of Haut Veneuil (beautiful view of the Indre Valley on the left).
(2) Continue straight ahead and cross the railway line. The path turns south-east to reach a place called La Maison Brûlée.
(3) Turn left onto a road followed by theGR®®46(red and white markings).
(4) At the fork at the entrance to Cormery, follow the right-hand path. Cross the village, continuing straight ahead (east) to the cemetery, ignoring theGR®® markings (which differ here from the route on the map).
(5) Turn right towards Champ Rigault. Continue straight ahead on the road that climbs uphill (beautiful view). Further on, cross Les Hauts Quarts and then Les Bas Quarts.
(6) Shortly after Les Bas Quarts, leave the road on the left and take a wide path on the right that runs straight between the woods covering the slope of the valley and the fields. Continue along this path until you reach a large crucifix.
(7) Opposite the cross, take a path on the left that descends into the valley. You will soon come to the D17. Cross it carefully (busy road) and take a small street on the right for a few dozen metres. Then follow the signs for Courçay on the left and cross the bridge over the Indre (note the church on the right).
(8) On the other side of the bridge, the path rejoins theGR®®46, which you follow for a long stretch. Take the road that climbs up to the left opposite the church, then, at the bend, continue straight on along a smaller road that leads to the sports facilities in Courçay.
(9) The road gives way to a wide path that runs alongside the Indre River through the woods and leads to a small road.
(10) Turn left onto the road and continue straight ahead between houses and vegetable gardens. Pass a road on your left, cross the next one and you will reach Truyes church.
(11) Then turn left at a right angle. Follow a small canal for a short distance, covered in places by a stone arch (which appears to be Roman, but there is no reliable information on this). This canal flows into a basin further on. At this point, turn right, still following theGR®® markings. Pass close to a water treatment plant. The road runs alongside numerous vegetable gardens. You will soon arrive at a place called Champs Chrétiens.
(12) Before reaching the D943, turn left to cross a branch of the Indre river on a small wooden bridge (information panel on floods). Then turn right to join the D943 and follow it to the left to cross the other branch of the river.
(13) Immediately after the bridge, turn right towards a car park. Turn left at the first street, Rue de l'Abreuvoir, and follow it to Rue Rabelais. Turn right and continue on this road, which runs alongside a leisure park. At the fork, continue left.
(4) Turn right and take the road you followed on the way there to Maison Brûlée.
(3) Do not follow the road you took on the way there, but continue straight ahead following theGR®®. The road climbs, passes under the railway, then continues straight ahead through fields.
(14) At the next crossroads, leave theGR®® trail on your left and continue straight ahead to the hamlet of Courty.
(15) Cross the hamlet, then turn right to descend to Moulin de Sauquet.
(16) Cross the Échandon again. Just after the bridge, turn right (north) onto the road that leads to the fork taken at the very beginning of the hike.
(1) Continue straight ahead to return to the car park (S/E).
