The Arpison and Pertuis viewpoints starting from La Ruchère

This route mainly follows the snowshoe trails maintained by the Ruchère Nordic ski centre, allowing for a quick pace; snowshoes are only really necessary between (2) and (3).
As over 90% of the route is groomed, the first few kilometres around the centre are generally quite busy.
The route can be walked during the summer season.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Ruchère ski lodge.

(S/E) Head due south and follow the snowshoe trail. This wide path forms part of theGRP® Tour de Chartreuse, whose red and yellow markings are visible on the trees. You’ll reach a junction facing a cliff.

(1) Turn left, pass through Tracol, stay on the track and reach the Col de la Ruchère. Once you reach the pass, do not venture towards the Petit Som as there is a fairly high risk of avalanches...

(2) Follow the snowshoe tracks to the right heading south-west, leaving theGRP® markings here. At the end of the descent, reach the Habert du Billon.

(3) Resume the ascent to the right; at the start of the Col d'Arpison, leave the tracks to climb due north across a meadow. This will take you to the Col d'Arpison.

(4) Head west to reach Habert d'Arpison. Turn left into the clearing, follow the edge of the woods to reach the Belvédère d'Arpison.

(5) Then turn 180° to the right, follow the edge of the woods to reach the Ruisseau de Courbière.

(6) Cross it, taking two bends – first to the right then to the left – to approach the Rochers de Pertuis. Reach the junction with the path coming from the Riondette car park.

(7) Turn left here to quickly reach the Belvédère de Pertuis.

(8) Head northwards and, at the start of the Rochers du Quartier, you’ll reach another viewpoint.

(9) Head slightly north-east and walk along the Rochers du Quartier. Then move away from them to reach the area near the car park of the Ruchère ski centre.

(10) Here you have two options:
- turn right to reach the car park (S/E).
- turn left onto the slightly uphill track leading to the Rochers du Frou, then the Pointe du Frou.

(11) Turn back and continue left to return to the car park at the Ruchère ski lodge (S/E).

We went on this hike in mid-February. We kept our snowshoes on the whole time, but the crampons were a great help.
The climb is spread out over several sections, which is quite nice.
A fairly pleasant route overall. We felt it lacked a few good mountain views,

Hello, it was a lovely day today. There was frozen snow on the way out, so I carried my snowshoes on my rucksack until the viewpoint; I put them on for the return journey. The circular route took a total of 5 hours, including a lunch break and stops to take photos.

Hello,
Apart from a few minor variations, I did this circular route yesterday and there was practically no snow left on many sections. The snowshoes spent three-quarters of the way on my rucksack but proved very useful in the early afternoon when the snow turned to slush!
This circular route is also worth doing in summer as it’s mostly through the forest… so in the shade!
Thanks for this description!

Hello, thank you for your feedback,
Having read your message, I get the impression that you are confusing Visorando with its contributors: the Visorando team is responsible for providing the tools to publish walks and make them available to the public. The GPS tracks, descriptions and photos are provided by volunteer contributors who want to share their passion (like me, the author of this walk... and we have nothing to do with the Visorando organisation)... in fact, you can post your own walks on Visorando, which will then be approved by a Visorando moderator before publication
The Visorando app allows you to record GPS tracks, or you can create your track manually via the Visorando website.

Hello. Overall, the descriptions and route maps for your walks are very well done. I often use them as inspiration when planning my own walks. Well done to the whole team.
