(S/E) From the square, take the small street behind the fountain that leads uphill. Walk past the castle, then the church, and you’ll come out onto the road. Turn right twice to reach a fork.
(1) Leave the tarmac and head up to the left (on the right is the entrance to the Maison des Sources). After 1.5 km, this path leads to Bramevaque Castle (off the route: to the right, you can access the castle grounds).
(2) Continue along the path to reach the village of Bramevaque. Just before the village, at the junction, take the road on the right and head towards the square (featuring a hundred-year-old lime tree, a fountain, a wash house and, further on to the left, the church).
(3) Take the narrow street known as Côté Vielle on the right, which leads onto a grassy path, and head down to the D925. Follow it to the right, crossing the Ourse (picnic area), and continue for 200 metres.
(4) At the corner of the first house, leave the D925 and take a small path on the left which climbs up to the village of Troubat. Head towards the square, keeping to the right. Climb the steps opposite. Turn left then right and continue through the woods.
(5) Continue straight ahead then turn left, climbing amongst the oak trees. The path heads north, at the foot of the cliffs, and runs alongside the entrance to the Sentaraille cave. Continue along the hillside (north).
(6) Follow the road to the right and reach the foot of the Troubat cliffs. Continue along the road for 1.7 km, skirting the quarry, until you reach a junction, just after a large standing rock.
(7) Take the track on the right, then head down through the woods to the village of Thèbe. Follow the narrow lane to the right, then at the drinking trough, turn right and immediately left onto the Gouardère path. It climbs straight up, quite steeply, and reaches a fork: turn left and continue climbing.
(8) Take the path on the left into the woods and follow it down the other side. It comes out further down onto a wide track: follow it straight ahead downhill. Just before reaching a road, take the path on the right and head towards Lake Mauléon.
(9) Take the path to the left of the lake, pass in front of the sports ground and come out onto a road in the housing estate: follow it to the left to reach the D925. Take it to the left as far as the centre of Mauléon (S/E).
