Parking – starting point: Oletta municipal car park, Corso José Luccioni, D38.
Alternative car park – possible starting point: Saint-François Convent car park. From there, follow Strada di u Cunventu for 200 metres to start the route at point no. 2.
Markings along the route: yellow paint, red-and-white barrier tape and cairns. Signage: wooden and metal signs.
(S/E) Leave the village car park by heading up the D38 for about thirty metres. Take the path down to the left towards the convent. At the T-junction, turn right. Shortly afterwards, at the next junction, turn right towards the convent via Mersulaccia.
(1) At the Mersulaccia Fountain, carry on straight ahead towards the convent (“direct”). At the lowest point, reach Strada di u Cunventu, then turn left, following the sign for “Mont Tuda”. After about a hundred metres, cross a small bridge and arrive at a Fork in the road.
(2) Take the path on the right, then the local footpath, and rejoin the Strada di u Cunventu. Continue to the right until you reach a superb shepherd’s shelter. Follow the signs to the right for “Tuda – D82 – Piedalbuccio” and reach the D82 road.
(3) Cross very carefully at the pedestrian crossing and walk uphill for about a hundred metres. Then turn right onto Via di Piedalbuccio and follow it for about a hundred metres before turning right down Via Sampieru. Take thesecond alley on the left, Stradella di u Loriu Rossu, for about 50 metres.
(4) Take the path leading down to the right between two properties. Continue to the signpost for “Piedalbuccio”, then turn left, crossing the Ruisseau de Vitte. Walk up the path and continue to the hamlet’s car park.
(5) Walk down Via di Piedalbuccio for about a hundred metres, then turn right onto Stradella di a Teppa. After about 50 metres, look for the passage on the right leading to the local footpath towards “Tuda”. Follow it to the end.
(6) At the end of the municipal path, turn left, go through the opening in an old gate and take the path that climbs to the right towards “Tuda”. After 500 metres, at the path junction, turn left and begin the final ascent towards Mount Tuda.
(7) At the summit, past the wayside cross and the antennae, take the track leading downwards. After a wide right-hand bend, continue to the right towards “Village-D82”. Reach the junction with the D82 road.
(8) Head down the D82 on the left for about fifty metres. Turn left into a field and follow the signs for “Stade – Oletta – Couvent”. Follow the local footpath through the woodland down to the lowest point, by the cemetery fence.
(9) Leave the fence on your left and turn right. The local footpath then passes between some beautiful properties, crosses the Ruisseau de la Concia and climbs back up towards the D82. Cross the D82 with care. Head up the opposite side via the Stretta di u Cirnu. At the top of the flight of steps, turn right onto Carrughju René Massigli.
(10) At the highest point, turn left onto Corsu Marinacce-Cavallacce and walk through the village of Oletta to the Place de l’Église. Head down the steps on the left at the Espace Maria Ghjentile.
