The starting point is the Château de la Barben car park (not to be confused with the zoo car park).
(S/E) In the car park, at the corner opposite the château, take a path that starts after a barrier. It follows a small river (yellow markings).
(1) The marked path and the river make a left turn, but another path on the right branches off and crosses the river via a concrete ford (marked with a yellow cross). Take this path. Shortly afterwards, it climbs quite steeply. At the top of this steep climb, the path splits in two: on the left, a path that continues to climb, and on the right, a path that is almost horizontal. Follow the path on the left.
At the top of the hill, the path begins to run along the ridge, a few dozen metres below. Follow it for about 700 metres.
(2) About twenty metres before the path crosses a small valley, take a path leading off to the left under some pine trees. It follows the edge of a pine forest and splits into two; stay on the right-hand path.
(3) The path turns right and descends rapidly (be careful not to take the wrong path, as another path continues straight ahead). Take the path that descends.
(4) At the bottom of the descent, the path crosses the bed of a stream, which is often dry. Immediately afterwards, it joins a path that follows the stream. Take the left-hand path and follow the valley (after a while, the yellow markings reappear) to return to the intersection at the start of the hike.
(1) Return to the car park (S/E) by retracing your steps.
Please note: there appears to be a private property issue at (1) after crossing the ford.
