From Argelès-sur-Mer, take the 4-lane road (D 914) towards Perpignan. After passing Elne, exit at Théza and follow the D 39 towards Villeneuve-de-la-Raho. Drive through the village without leaving this road. When you reach the lake and its beaches, park on the right (shaded and equipped car park).
Another car park is accessible by turning left shortly after the lake, at the water sports area (entrance near the rubbish bins), under the pine trees, with picnic areas and a boules court.
(S/E) Cross the D 39 carefully to reach the starting point at the first-aid station. Set off in an anti-clockwise direction. Follow the lake shore (guide on the left) which has been converted into a beach with huts. Continue along it until you reach a point directly opposite the campsite. Turn right, ignoring the small lake, and walk along the campsite (on your right).
(1) Continue along the same path to the water sports centre and, at its southern end, you will find a shaded picnic area which is very pleasant in good weather.
(2) Continue along the route, following the shore (still holding onto the handrail). There is another shaded picnic area, just as pleasant, at a point jutting out over the lake.
(3) Further on, after another picnic and sports area, the path turns into a dyke forming an enclave on the lake. There is wildlife in the marshes bordering this enclave. After the dyke, the path turns left to run along the shore.
(4) Shortly afterwards, at an insect hotel, leave the circular path and take a path to the right under the cork oaks and pines. Climb a little to enjoy the surrounding landscape and get closer to the vineyards before descending via a stony path on the circular path to a crossroads of tracks located very close to a car park.
(5) Keep to the left, as close to the riverbank as possible, to continue along the route on a tarmac path. Pass near a pumping station and then above Mas Doat, a neighbourhood of Villeneuve-de-la-Raho. The path veers to the left before turning right at a right angle and running alongside a stream on the left. Further on, cross a footbridge on the left to return to the lake shore.
(6) Back on the lake's circular path, continue to the right until you reach the first-aid station, your starting point (S/E).
