Description of the walk

Start from the Faubourg Saint-Jean car park

(S/E) Walk up through the car park towards the village. At the exit, take the path on the left to enter the village, then the track on the right. Follow the ramparts to the end and join the D95 via the Allée du Jeu de Tamis.

(1) Turn right onto the D95 to leave Gerberoy, then turn right again onto Chemin du Cimetière. Continue to the bend just before it.

(2) Carry straight on, then keep left at the three-way junction to reach Lachapelle-sous-Gerberoy.

(3) Continue left, taking a moment to admire the chapel and the wash house just behind it. Then continue along Rue de l’Église to reach the Moulin de la Chapelle.

(4) Turn left, then right. Cross the bridge over the River Le Tahier and go straight on.

(5) Just before the stadium, turn right, cross the bridge over the Le Thérain and keep going straight up Rue du Château until you reach Rue du Maréchal de Boufflers. Turn left and walk up the street, passing in front of the church.

(6) Continue straight ahead, then turn left twice, turn right at the end, cross the bridge and turn right.

(7) Turn left onto Chemin de la Côte Blanche. Turn right at the bend and continue straight on, heading uphill into the Caumont National Forest. Continue straight on at the first fork, then keep going until you reach a four-way junction.

(8) Turn left onto Chemin des Morts, then keep left at the nearby junction to follow Chemin des Meuniers to the road.

(9) Follow it to the left for a good hundred metres, then take the path on the right. Head straight on until you reach a fork.

(10) Head slightly downhill to the right and follow the path along the edge of the woodland. Then turn right, staying close to the edge, and continue to the Bosquet junction.

(11) Turn right, then take the road on the left, making a hairpin bend. Cross the bridge over Le Tahier, then take the steeply ascending path on the left. Once at the top, turn right 180° and head for the car park, which will then be on your left (S/E).

A very pleasant hike combining forest and heritage.
When we visited, there were few tourists, which, selfishly, is not such a bad thing for hiking. Especially when the sun is shining.
A hike that is definitely worth the trip.
Thank you for sharing

Good evening, thank you for your feedback. I created this walk last November because we organise day trips by coach, so it’s not easy to plan a longer route, but walking through Songeons is great fun – that makes up for it. I wish you all the best on your walks. Kind regards

Done today in sunnier weather than forecast: it’s lovely, very pleasant, a good mix of forest paths, forest tracks and small country lanes (perhaps a bit too much tarmac overall, but it’s fine), small towns, villages and hamlets, all of which you pass through, and 1 km from the end, a superb view of the valley opposite Gerberoy (there’s a makeshift bench on the left – don’t miss it).

Finish it all off with a visit to Gerberoy, and you’ve got a brilliant outing.

The only real regret? It’s too short; I could easily have done another 4–5 km !

Thanks to Souchez Rando.

Yes, exactly – we’ve planned this walk for next June, including a visit to the Jardin Le Sidaner. I hope you’ll enjoy it, and all the best on your walks

Gerberoy is one of the most beautiful villages in France, situated in the Pays de Bray
It is home to the house and garden of the painter Le Sidaner, which are open to visitors
It’s a very pleasant place to visit, especially when the roses are in bloom
I went for a walk in the area; we had a picnic there and followed a different route to this one
So, when the opportunity arises, I’ll be able to do that one and discover another side of this lovely spot
