To access by vehicle, park on the right-hand side of the road near the waste containers before the access restriction sign.
(S/E) Follow the road for about 300 m and take the wide track on your left heading north.
Go up this track. After 1.4 km, you will reach a tarmaced embankment which you cross (cistern, elevation 184). Continue along the track opposite
(1) After 250 m, take the small path on the left to the north-east (elevation 189) at a three-way junction, where the track continues uphill to the right. Follow this flat path to reach a wide track at a three-way junction. Continue on the track going up to the right.
(2) After about 50 m, before a wide hairpin bend on the left, take the barely visible path on your right (elevation 205). Climb this fairly steep and narrow path to reach a wide track. Follow this track on the left, continuing north. After about 100 m, the track turns south via a wide hairpin bend.
(3) About 20 metres before a small restored tower on the left, leave the track and take a path on the right.
Follow this winding path to reach a wide DFCI track, which offers a beautiful open view to the west.
(4) Follow this wide track to the right, heading north, until you reach a crossroads forming a plateau. During your climb, you will see several restored drystone shelters on your right. Take the track that continues opposite.
(5) After about 100 metres, leave the track and take the path sloping diagonally to the right, parallel to the track. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the various paths branching off to the right, until you reach a large bend to the right. Do not take the small path opposite, but continue to the right (east) on the main path, which continues horizontally to join a wide track.
(6) Turn left (north) for 200 metres to reach a wide track. Continue on the left branch of this track for about 30 metres.
(7) Leave the track and take the wide path on your right. Follow this path (north-west) which climbs very slightly. At the edge of the forest, cross the wide open space diagonally to the left towards a building topped with telephone antennas to reach the summit (elevation 467).
(8) Go around this building on the right to reach the ruins of the Chappe telegraph, which gave this summit its name, and enjoy the wide panorama opening up before you. Take the path along the edge of the northern slope heading northeast. After about 170 m, go around a radio beacon antenna on the left to reach the wide track leading from the summit. Follow this track, ignoring the paths leading off to either side, until you reach a wide, open crossroads (elevation 432).
Please note: the rest of the route is difficult to find due to the numerous clearings and earthworks that have been carried out.
(9) Take the track continuing straight ahead, heading south, then take the small, well-marked path on your right heading south-west. After a long flat section, the path turns left towards the south.
(10) 100 m after the bend, leave this yellow-marked trail and take the trail starting on your right (2nd trail from the bend). Follow this trail to reach a wide track (elevation 420). Cross this track and take the trail running alongside it on the right, heading south-east.
(11) After about 300 m, the path widens into a broad track heading due south. Descend this very eroded track as best you can to reach a wide track at a crossroads (elevation 333). Follow this track, which continues straight ahead, still heading south, for about 1.4 km until you reach a large crossroads (elevation 217), which you cross by taking the paths opened up by mountain bikes to join the track continuing straight ahead, heading south. After 400 m, following a wide right-hand bend, you will reach another crossroads. Follow the track on the left, heading south, for about 130 m.
(12) Take the narrow path (single track) starting to the right of the track and leading down a technical descent to the bottom of a small valley. After a short steep climb, the path descends slightly and heads south. A short steep descent leads to a hairpin bend on a wide path. Continue straight ahead up a short climb. After about 500 m, join the Chemin des Plaines Baronnes at the service area of the same name.
(13) Take the path on the right about ten metres before reaching the road. Follow this path, which runs parallel to the road. After about 400 m, the path continues slightly to the right on a gentle incline. Continue along this path for 350 m to reach the wide track taken on the way out, which you follow downhill to the left to reach Chemin des Plaines Baronnes and from there our starting point (S/E).
a beautiful discovery: a view of La Ciotat and spring flowers all along the route. Superb
