This hike in Artois will take you through beautiful villages between plains and woodlands on good quality paths, returning via the 1,350-metre-long Allée des Tilleuls, lined with 898 hundred-year-old trees planted in 1745 by Louis Benoit de Hamel, and Lignereuil Castle.

Description of the walk

Departure from the car park of the village hall on Rue du Faye.

(S/E) Exit the car park and turn right onto Rue du Faye. Follow the bend in the road and continue to another bend on Rue des Vignes.

(1) Take the street opposite, then take the track on the right, Rue à Cailloux (GR®121) and continue straight ahead at the fork until you reach the Poulvron fork.

(2) Continue straight ahead on the GR®121 to reach Denier.

(3) Turn left, then keep left and take the PR®. Continue straight ahead, along the woods until you reach a Y-junction.

(4) Continue straight ahead and stay on the PR® until you reach the crossroads in the centre of Blavincourt.

(5) Cross the D81 and continue straight ahead on Rue de Beaufort (D78), then Rue de Blavincourt (D78) until you reach a fork.

(6) Turn left and continue on the PR®. Leave the path to reach a footpath.

(7) Turn right onto the footpath and, at the end, turn left until you reach the fire hose.

(8) Turn left and rejoin the GR®121. Continue to the D77 (second fork) and Allée des Tilleuls.

(9) Turn left onto this road, then turn right at the end onto Rue Angelique and head back to the car park (S/E).

After starting on the Avesnes footpaths, we follow the GRP® de l'Artois, then the GR®121 for a long and varied loop.Wide paths across agricultural plains, trails along woods and finally the Allée des Tilleuls in Lignereuil. All dotted with a few châteaux. It's enough to make for a good day out, especially as the paths are generally in very good condition, even in wet weather.

This hike between plains and woods will take you to Barly Castle. Listed as a historic monument, it was built in 1780 by the Blin family. It is open to visitors today. You will also see Fosseux Castle, which was built in 1770 by Parisian architect Villetard at the request of Ferdinand Dubois de Hoves de Fosseux.
