Start at the entrance to the Saint-Dominique foyer near the town hall in Vals.
(S/E) Take the path marked "Sentier des Chibottes".
It rises between two walls. When you reach a road, cross it and take the path opposite (rue André Bernard). It continues to climb (panoramic view). After the stairs, you will come to a road. Turn left and then immediately right, taking the road that climbs uphill marked "Chemin de la Sermone haute". At the top of the hill, turn left, staying on the road. At the bend, continue to follow the road and ignore the path that descends to the left.
(1) You will arrive at a crossroads near a picnic table and a cross (the Pouvignac cross). At this crossroads, follow the path to the left of the stone cross. It passes near a house and then runs along the right side of a livestock building. At the next intersection, follow a grassy path to the left. At the end, turn right onto a path that enters the woods. Pass a wooden chicane.
(2) After the woods, at the crossroads, go down to the left. At the next crossroads, continue downhill to the left (ignore the path on the right that climbs up to the viewpoint).
You will arrive at a first shepherd's hut. Turn right and pass a second chicane at the entrance to a wooden footbridge. Pass close to a second shepherd's hut (at the top on your right). At the fork, turn right towards "Ruine" (ignore the path on the left towards "Chibote 1 Parking"). Walk along a scree slope on either side of the path. At the second "Ruine" sign, turn right onto the flat path.
(3) At the next crossroads, turn left and descend along a low stone wall. At the next T-junction, turn right (towards chibotte 1 parking) and descend quickly to a second crossroads. At this crossroads, descend to the left (towards chibotte 5). Pass behind a shepherd's hut, staying on the path. Then, turn sharply to pass in front of a picnic table and the shepherd's hut. Continue along the grassy path. At the wire fence, take the path on the left towards the shepherd's hut to climb up a slope and descend it, going around the shepherd's hut of the Vals winegrowers on the right. Turn your back to the entrance of this shepherd's hut and climb up to the right on a flat path to reach a picnic area. When you reach this picnic area, climb up to the right on a path that joins a wide path.
(4) On the right, go through the open gate. Then climb up a path to the left of a picnic table. Pass a shepherd's hut and continue climbing to pass hut 17.
(5) Then climb up the scree using the cable if necessary (be careful!). Follow the path downhill towards shepherd's hut 7. Then continue along the path lined with trees on both sides. At the crossroads after shepherd's hut 7, go straight ahead towards "Vals près le Puy" to climb up to the viewpoint (do not descend to the right towards the "ruin - car park").
(6) At the viewpoint, take the grassy path between two low walls on the left (do not go down opposite). Join theGR®6520 metres further on.
Turn right onto theGR®65towards the farm and follow it until you reach the cross you passed on the way there.
(1) At the crossroads, take the road signposted "Haut Dolaizon Val" (near a sign prohibiting vehicles over 19 tonnes). Continue along the road and rejoin the Chemin de la Sermone Haute. In the bend, after No. 41 and under the sign "3 passages protégés" (3 protected crossings), take the stairs down and follow the path that descends. Then cross a road and take the path opposite, which runs alongside a wall topped with a cross.
Continue downhill to your starting point (S/E).
