The Ruisseau de Coutances via the Bois de la Tiemblais

(S/E) From the town hall car park, head left, leaving the town hall on your right, and take the first street on the left.

(1) Turn left into Rue de la Croix Guillou and follow the gravel path to the departmental road. Walk alongside it for about 250 m, then take the grassy path on the left to reach the menhir. Continue along this path until you reach a small tarmac road; follow it to the left, crossing a level crossing.

(2) Just after the first bend, take the bridle path on the left, then carry on through the woods until you reach the Ruisseau de Coutances.

(3) Cross the stream using the tree trunks laid across it. On the other bank, carry on for about 30 metres, then take the path leading uphill to the right. Follow it until you reach a field on the edge of the woodland. Then turn left and walk along the edge of the woodland. When you reach a stony track, turn left and you’ll arrive in the picturesque hamlet of La Quinois.

(4) Take the first street on the left. After the first bend to the right, continue for about 200 m, then turn left onto the stony farm track. You’ll come out onto the D61, near a pond.

(5)Turn left and follow it for about 120 metres. Please take care: there is no designated pedestrian crossing onthis stretch of road . At the stone bridge, cross the departmental road to reach the pond, then follow the path through the woods until you reach a residential area. Continue along the road lined with a stone wall on the left, then turn left onto Rue du Tertre.

(6) At the roundabout, take the first exit on the left, Rue du Courtil Hubert, then take the first street on the right, Impasse des Priaux.

(7) Before the end of the cul-de-sac, turn left onto a stone and sand track and follow it, skirting the residential area on the left whilst passing two small ponds. You’ll come out onto a tarmac road.

(8) Follow it to the cemetery, then go round it on the right. Near the pub and the church, take Rue de la Mairie on the left, then continue straight on to the town hall car park (S/E).

(8) There is a bar near the church. Public toilets are also available on Rue de la Mairie, a short walk from the finish point.
