Description of the walk

Park in the car park opposite the abandoned Hôtel de la Pépinière.

(S/E) Opposite the hotel, head left and carefully follow the departmental road (D416), then take the first path on the left to cross the Strengbach. Turn left to follow it and reach a crossroads.

(1) Turn right onto the Disque Bleu trail and follow it uphill. Cut across a forest path and rejoin the trail opposite to continue climbing until you reach another forest path.

(2) Follow the signposted direction "Baerenhutte" opposite and reach the forest house.

(3) Turn sharply left to continue towards Bilstein Castle: stop at the castle for the breathtaking view, but be careful, the stairs are steep and should be avoided in icy conditions.

(4) Retrace your steps, then turn left towards Riquewihr. You will reach a crossroads.

(5) Continue straight ahead and slightly to the left, reach another star-shaped crossroads and go straight ahead, following the blue disc markings. Reach the Seelacker Pass.

(6) Go straight ahead, then turn left (Blue Cross markings). Take the left at the first bend and then go straight ahead to reach the ruins of the Sylo (convent).

(7) Continue following the blue cross markings, turn left at the intersection and head towards Claussmatt.

(8) Follow the wide carriageway marked with blue crosses and stay on it for a long time.

(9) Leave it for a path on the right and quickly reach a fork in the shape of an inverted Y.

(10) Turn right: Red Rectangle markings. Join a path marked with a Yellow Cross and follow it to the left to reach the Strengbach stream at the foot of the Dusenbach site.

(11) Head right to follow the stream, cross it via a footbridge and come out onto the road (D416). Cross it carefully, then turn right and follow it for about 100 metres before turning left onto the slightly steep Chemin de Croix, which leads to the Monastery of Notre-Dame de Dusenbach.

(12) Continue straight up the access road, leaving it at the hairpin bend to take the path opposite, which leads to a wide path marked with yellow crosses.

(13) Turn left and follow this path, which runs almost along the contour line, for over 2 km.

(14) Be careful not to miss the small path on the left that leads directly back to the nursery and the car park (S/E).
