At the village of La Lavigerie, head towards La Gravière. During high season, parking is available in this hamlet. The description starts from the private area of the Boudio refuge (but we have requested permission to park there). I doubt that this permission will be granted during high season.
(S/E) From La Gravière, continue along the road, then take the agricultural track (closed to vehicles) and leave it before joining the path to the buron (shepherd's hut) on the edge of the stream.
(1) Continue on the good path before tackling the rather tricky climb up to the Col de Cabre. Reach the pass to join theGR®4and 400 long-distance footpaths, which also support the Compostela route.
(2) Turn left onto thisGR® trail, quickly pass the Col de Rombière and, after an uphill and downhill section, you will reach the arrival station of the chairlift of the same name.
(3) Continue along theGR® to reach a gate, which is a crossroads of trails.
(4) Go straight ahead, leaving theGR® here, and reach the foot of Puy Griou. Begin the climb by taking one of the various paths, all of which are well marked at the start. For the final section, find a passage between the rocks, which are easy to pass, but you will often need to use your hands. Reach the summit of Puy.
(5) Descend via the same route, taking care not to slip. Return to the gate crossroads.
(4) Follow the outward route in reverse to return to the car park (S/E).
