The Pic Galinié circular from Dun via Roussinergue

A short circular hike without too much elevation gain, starting from Dun, via Pic Galinié and a beautiful view, then returning via the hamlets of Roussinergue and Saint-Pastou. Description of the walk

Park along Allée de l'École, on the left, at the entrance to Dun when arriving from Lavelanet.

(S/E) Walk up Allée de l'École, cross Rue des Pyrénées and follow Rue Borde Crémade opposite. Continue along the path, ignoring the various side roads, until you reach the ridge.

(1) Turn right to reach the orientation table.

(2) Admire the beautiful view of the Tabe massif, then turn around and return to the previous crossroads.

(1) Take the path that climbs opposite, north-east. Follow a very steep and slightly slippery climb to reach Pic Galinie.

(3) At the summit, continue straight ahead and descend the north slope on a fairly wide path.

(4) At the fork at the edge of the woods, continue left, cross a field and descend towards the north-west.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right. Then keep left and you will come to a fork after walking along a field on your left.

(6) Turn left, walk a few dozen metres between two fields, then turn right at the edge of the woods. Descend to the hamlet of Roussinergue.

(7) Turn left, and at the last houses, turn right. Join the Senesse stream (which may be dry) and follow it on your right until you reach a small road.

(8) Follow this road to the left and, at the hamlet of Saint-Pastou, turn right and you will arrive at the D12.

(9) Follow it very carefully to the right, cross the bridge over the Douctouyre, then you will soon come to a track on the left.

(10) Ignore it and follow the path that runs alongside it on the right at the edge of the woods. Continue straight ahead, then continue along the path. Pass the sewage treatment plant and arrive at Dun.

(11) Take the bridge over the Douctouyre, follow Rue Cami del Mouli, then turn right onto Rue de la Brègue and left onto Rue des Vergers. At the end of the latter, turn right, pass the town hall and the school, then turn right again onto Allée de l'École to reach the car park (S/E).

Notes

From (1) to (3). Very steep and slippery climb. It is preferable to hike in this direction as the descent can be tricky.

(9) Be careful on this section of the D12 because there may be many cars travelling at high speed on this straight stretch of road.

Worth a visit

(2) Orientation table with a beautiful view.

For your information, there is a shorter route to this peak in the opposite direction (hike no. 8694819 from Echo 09).

We didn't expect to have such beautiful 360° views in Dun. But to enjoy them, you have to climb Galinié Peak, which is a short but very steep climb. Ending up on all fours was a good solution. Avoid doing this climb in rainy weather or on wet ground. The rest of the walk is easy and very pleasant.
