Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the Church of Saint-Laurent, Rue des Fontaines.

(S/E) Head south-west along the church and past the town hall. At the fork, follow Rue du Faubourg towards Eygues/Archias until you reach a small square.
On your left, you will see an old wash house. Continue straight ahead along Rue de la Violle until you reach Chemin de Malbouron on your right.

(1) Go up between the houses, turn left to join Chemin du Château. Follow this path on the right, then turn left onto Chemin de Madame.
Pass in front of the Notre-Dame des Anges Chapel and rejoin Chemin du Château. Cross it and continue straight on Chemin de Madame, which leads to the hamlet of Château.

(2) In the centre of the hamlet, take the stairs on the left towards the Rignas ravine. Pass in front of an old wash house once used by the inhabitants of the château. Cross the Rignas and climb up towards the Pic de Chenavari. You will arrive at a forest track.
On your left, you will see the Château de Rochemaure and the Rhône plain.

(3) Turn right onto Chemin de Sceautres, then turn left under a power line and continue straight ahead to begin the ascent of Pic de Chenavari. As you climb, you will cross theGR®42.

(4) Continue following the signs for Pic de Chenavari slightly to the left and reach the summit. Descend by the same route until you reach the junction with theGR®42.

(4) Follow it to the left towards the north. Further on, the path turns north-east and reaches the hamlet of Cheyron.

(5) Turn right onto the road towards Les Crouzets/Château de Rochemaure and, in the left-hand bend, leave the road and descend via a narrow path that leads to Les Crouzets.

(6) Join a wide forest track (Chemin de Sceautres) and follow it towards Château de Rochemaure until you reach a fork in the road.

(7) At the intersection on Chemin du Château, descend to the left onto the tarmac road for a few metres, then take Chemin du Saut de l'Âne on the left. Keep left to descend towards the village and rejoin Chemin du Château.
At Chemin du Château, turn left and then take Chemin de Gaudissart straight ahead. This will take you back to the town hall and then to the church car park (S/E).

A pleasant hike, passing through the old village, near the castle, with superb views along the way and when we reach the highest point, plus a few climbs to boot.

Allows you to visit the old village. If you ignore the nuclear power station on the banks of the Rhône, the scenery is pleasant, with snow-capped mountains in the distance.

A pleasant hike, but more strenuous (steeper inclines and more difficult trails) than the Tour de la Montagne de Carcot.

A very pleasant walk with beautiful views of the castle and the Drôme valley in the background.
Slight guidance issue at point 1. Passing in front of the church, I continued straight ahead. I arrived at point 7, from where I was able to reach the hamlet. (part of the indication unclear)
