There is a large car park at the foot of the Leucate lighthouse. The road to get there is not very easy to find because one-way streets have been changed since the maps were made. Ask for the "Chemin du Phare" which will take you there directly.
(S/E) Leave the car park and walk north along the coast. There are many paths crossing each other, but if you stay as close to the water as possible, you will have the best view of the cliffs. Walk past the semaphore (please note, no photos) and continue along this very rocky path. You will come to a wooden sign saying "Preserve our heritage - no fires".
(1) Turn left onto a carriageway that was once paved. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the turnoffs to the right and left.
(2) At the first T-junction, turn left. At the next junction, leave the main road on the right onto a less well-maintained track. About 200m further on, you will come to another T-junction.
(3) Turn left onto a path. After another 200 metres, turn right again.
(4) Continue straight ahead along a narrower path. All these paths are lined with dry stone walls, which are often quite high. Walk slowly and quietly and you will probably be lucky enough to see a few geckos basking in the sun.
(5) Turn left onto a path lined with high dry stone walls. Continue until you reach a carriage road, which you take to the right. Pass a hut on your right, then another on your left.
(6) 50 metres further on, leave this road and take a path on the right. This path runs through the heath. You can see the lighthouse in the distance. Keep to your left and continue to the road suitable for vehicles that runs along the sea.
(7) Turn right and follow the road to the car park. You are now at the car park (S/E).

Don't hesitate to go down to La Franqui (at point 1) for a magnificent view of the surfers' beach!!!
