Park in the Hauts Plateaux car park, also known as the golf course car park, located about 1 km after the village of Corrençon-en-Vercors.
(S/E) The walk starts at the Les Hauts Plateaux restaurant.
Take the GR® 91 trail heading south and follow it until you reach a place called Rocher de l'Échalet. You will soon arrive at La Croix de Jacques. Leave the path that branches off to the right towards Pierre Copante. Continue straight ahead, following the signs for Le Clariant, then Champ de la Bataille, a famous meadow that you will reach after about half an hour's walk.
(1) Keep left on theGR®® 91, leaving the Auberge du Clariant on your right. Continue following the signs for Croix de la Messe, Hauts plateauxGR®®91and Les Feuillus to reach the Rochers de l'Echalet crossroads.
(2) Here, leave theGR®®91by turning right. After a short, easy climb, you will reach the Lautaret.
Alternative
From point (2), if you wish to extend the hike slightly (just under 1.5 km), stay on theGR®® 91 to reach Les Ravières, then continue in the direction of the 45th parallel until you reach Le Camp Deux.
At this point, leave theGR®® 91 on your left and take the small path on the right which, after a short climb, will take you to Lautaret in about 20 minutes. Continue the hike as described from the point below.
(3) Leave the path that branches off to the left towards Le Camp Deux and continue to the right on the path that climbs gently and then descends into the forest, through rocks and sharp limestone pavements. Follow the blue and pink marks painted on the stones along the path, or the yellow and green marks on the trees, to easily reach the Auberge du Clariant.
(4) Take the wide stony path on your left and continue straight ahead. Then slowly make your way back to the Champ de la Bataille crossroads, which you passed on the way there.
