The walk starts in front of "L'écurie de Pépé", at the foot of the six-hundred-year-old holm oak (parking is available on the promenade in front of the Town Hall, a few metres from the start).
(S/E) Take the path down to the gardens, passing in front of the cross dating from 1676, and follow the markings.
(1) At the bottom of the path, turn right and walk back up to the plateau. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, going around the Pech du Fort (altitude 300 m).
(2) From here, you will have a panoramic view of the Razès valley on one side, with the village of Cailhau and the Pyrenees in the background, and on the other side, you will enjoy an incredible view of the village of Montréal and the Malepère forest.
Go back down the hill and turn right onto the small road (Départementale 8), which you will take on your right. After 1 kilometre of shaded road, you will reach the hamlet of Bades, where you can admire vineyards, olive groves, broom and heath.
(3) Continue straight ahead until you reach the Croix de la Demoiselle.
(4) Take the road on your left, then immediately turn right onto the path that climbs up towards the water tower and Pech Nadiou.
(5) At the top of the hill, take the small path on your right that leads into a beautiful little wood. The path is narrow and has two or three tricky sections, but it is not dangerous. At the bottom of the path, turn right and go up Chemin des Fontanelles. At the end of the road, turn right and then immediately left onto Chemin de La Prade.
(6) Turn left and go down the road, pass the water treatment plant and 50 metres further on, take the path on the right through the vineyards. After walking along the Moulinasse vineyard, turn right, go up a little and turn left to reach the Red Cross. Take the path downhill on your left, then turn right to reach the Notre-Dame des Prés Chapel.
(7) At the crossroads, take the D18 on the left, then the first right to reach the Maisonnette de Cambon. This is where the Voie Verte passes. Do not take it, but walk about ten metres to turn right onto a path that runs alongside this old railway line.
At the end of the path, you will arrive at a place called Monède, where there is a new cross.
(8) Do not go under the bridge, but continue along the road, passing in front of the old station, then turn right. First turn left then right and continue straight ahead until you reach the D221 road. Turn right, then immediately left onto the path. Follow this path uphill, passing the Étang de Lagardie pond (hidden behind some reeds), until you reach the Croix de Pujal cross.
(9) Continue straight ahead towards the village. At the bottom of the path, take the second street on the right (Rue des Jardins) and follow it up to Place Achille Laugé. Turn left onto the square, go around the village hall, then go up the stairs. Cross the Grand Rue, take another staircase (in front of the boules court and playground) and you will reach the forecourt of Saint-Christophe Church, where you will find the oldest cross in the commune (1643).
(10) Turn right onto Rue de l'Église, then take the first street on the right (Rue du Cayre) to go down towards Rue de la Malepère, passing under the Porte Ayguière (the Porch). Turn left and walk back up to your starting point (S/E).
