Follow the yellow markings
(S/E) From the car park, walk past the Tourist Office and turn left onto Rue du Chemin de Ronde, which is a side street off the avenue. Then turn right onto Rue de la Porte Esquive and continue straight ahead until you reach the collegiate church.
(1) On the church square, follow Place Saint-Vincent to the right, then straight ahead along Rue Malbec. In front of the town hall, turn left through the passageway under the houses on Rue du Puits Banal: you are now on the Way of St James (GR®® 78). At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue de l'Angle, then right onto Rue du Général Frère.
(2) Cross the car park at Place Grillères and take Avenue Jean Moulin. Turn left to cross the public garden at Rue Bourbon, then take Rue du Cours to the left.
(3) At the end of this street, go down Rue de la Salle to the right, then turn right onto Promenade des Pyrénées: stop briefly at the Notre-Dame des Anges Chapel. At the end of Promenade des Pyrénées, turn left onto Rue du Barry (RD208).
(4) Follow the sign for Chemin de Saint-Jacques and turn onto Rue du 19 Mars 1962, which you follow straight ahead to the end.
(5) After the last houses and the water treatment plant, take the path to the left, cross a stream and follow an old railway line straight ahead for 1 km until you reach some greenhouses on your left.
(6) Walk along the RD for 80 m, then cross it to enter Chemin de la Plaine. After 200 m, turn left down Chemin de Rigou.
(7) When you reach the village, turn right onto Rue du Barry, then left. Pass in front of the town hall (picnic area at the back) and then in front of the church. Just after the church, turn right, then 50 m further on, turn left onto Chemin du Lac.
(8) Continue to the right along the lake and rejoin theGR®® 78 to climb through the vineyards. After 800 m of stony path, turn left onto a grassy path, still following theGR®® 78. Go around a small hill (pech in Occitan) and you will find yourself back on a stony path.
(9) Follow it to the left. At the tarmac road, keep left.
(10) In front of the cemetery, turn right and leave theGR®® 78 to take the yellow-marked alternative route. After the Saint-Étienne farm, turn right and you will soon find yourself back on a stony path.
(11) At the junction with the path to Fanjeaux, bear right and stay on the stony path towards La Force. After 700 m, bear right along the vineyards. At the playground, turn left at the cross.
(12) At the end of Rue des Jardins, cross the RD119, take Rue du Pont Levis opposite and turn right onto thesecond street in the circular village, Rue du Barry, which you follow straight on until you leave the village.
(13) Go down the grassy path on the right. At the bottom of the plain, turn right. At the Galinier farm, keep left and continue straight ahead along the stream and then the vineyards.
(14) In front of the Domaine du Fort, turn right and go straight down into the valley, then follow the Rebenty stream to the left. At the end of the path, take the road to the right.
(15) Take the RD63 for 40 m, then turn left. After 300 m, take the path on the left and after 100 m, go up to the left again. At the top, turn right along the vineyards.
(16) At the tarmac road, take the small road to the right to the end. After the cemetery, take the RD43 to the right, then climb up to the right via Avenue de la Montagne Noire, which will take you back to the starting point (S/E).
