The hike starts on Avenue du Bouteiller in the town of Chantilly. It is a dead-end street that ends near the Canal Saint-Jean. There are always parking spaces available.
(S/E) Go up Avenue du Bouteiller, crossing two successive crossroads to reach the Chantilly racecourse.
(1) Turn left and follow the fence. You will pass the Grandes Écuries. Continue along this track, which turns right, to reach the Rond-Point des Lions.
(2) Cross the paved road and take the footpath on the right towards the station, 2 km away.
At the next roundabout, pass the statue of Diana and turn left, following plot 271 to reach the Poteau du Puits.
(3) Turn left onto Layon du Puits towards Route du Connétable. Cross this road (it is a racehorse training track) and continue to the D924a.
(4) Cross the road and continue straight ahead along the forest track, which is closed to traffic by a barrier. This will take you about one kilometre further to a roundabout (Carrefour du Gâteau) at the junction of several racehorse training tracks.
(5) Turn right onto the forest track crossing plot 175. After about 1.5 km, at the corner of plot 174, you will reach a path marked in red and white.

(6) Turn left. You will see a stone marker with a coat of arms a few metres to your right on plot 173. A little further on, on plot 172, another marker with a coat of arms stands at the edge of the path. Continue to a crossroads where theGR®11,GR®12andGR®655trails meet.
(7) Take theGR®11on the left towards Chantilly. After 300 metres, leave theGR® and turn right.
No signposts
About a hundred metres further on, turn left onto the path.
(8) This path separates plots 107 and 139 and leads to a wide forest track at the corner of plot 107, which you take to the right. After a few hundred metres, the track turns left and joins a forest road at the edge of the forest at the corner of plot 90.
(9) Continue right until you reach a junction with a very wide path where a row of tall poplar trees stands between the horse track and the road open to motor traffic.
(10) Turn left and continue. You will pass meadows near horse riding centres, then a sports ground before crossing a crossroads with a cross erected on the central reservation.
Cross the crossroads and follow Chemin de la Porte du Rond, which will take you to a crossroads in front of the Maison Forestière de la Porte Vaillant.
(11) Cross the crossroads, then turn left onto the path running alongside the fence of the Château de Chantilly estate. After 500 metres, you will reach a crossroads where theGR®11passes.

(12) Continue straight ahead, still following the fence. You will pass the Maison de Sylvie and arrive at the main gate of the Château de Chantilly.
(13) Cross the cobbled street and head back up towards the Grandes Écuries. Turn right in front of the building to pass under an archway on the left and continue to the crossroads.
(14) Turn right towards Senlis. The road descends to the Canal Saint-Jean.
(15) Turn left just before the bridge to follow the path alongside the canal. This will take you back to your starting point (S/E).
