Le Marcel and Le Devés departing from Sahune.

Pleasant circular route through olive groves and then through a wood of holm oaks, offering a view of Montagne d'Angèle at the Bergerie crossroads.

Description of the walk

Park in the large car park on the banks of the Eygues at the bottom of the Route de Montréal les Sources in the village of Sahune.

(S/E) Begin a short climb to reach the D94. Cross it, turn left and then right before the town hall, following the signs for theGRP® Tour des Baronnies Provençales marked in red and yellow. Continue along a wide track leading to the olive groves. Reach the end of this track.

(1) Continue along the path that follows it and, via an easy climb, reach the crossroads known as La Bergerie.

(2) Leave theGRP® here and turn left onto the yellow-markedPR ®. Cross a holm oak forest to reach a multiple crossroads at the Marcel sign.

(3) Here, there are two options for continuing the hike. Turn left either:
- a few metres further on, turn left again and follow the path marked Sahune via the Devès ridge,
- continue straight ahead at this crossroads and follow the yellow markings, which is the route shown on the map. Alternating between short descents and ascents, you will reach the crossroads of the path leading to the summit of Devés.

(4) Keep right on the yellow trail and continue the descent. Cross another olive grove before reaching the D94.

(5) Cross it carefully at the protected crossing. Walk along the left-hand side of the road on the pavement separated from it by a hedge. Return to the crossroads you passed on the way out to reach the car park on the banks of the Eygues (S/E).

We do this hike regularly since we live at the starting point... we even help maintain the ridge trail a little. 😀

A really enjoyable hike, almost entirely on easy-to-follow trails with superb views, mostly in the shade, which was perfect given the season. I was lucky enough to have a slight breeze, which helped.
Personally, I did it backwards to avoid the long 15% descent (I have a badly damaged knee) and also to enjoy the ridge in the early morning as it was very hot (I chose the ridge option described in point 3).
I also cut across the very steep path that goes straight to the summit (marked as a short return to Sahune at the summit). There were a few tricky sections for me, but I got through them without any problems (I strongly advise against doing this on the way down).
For parking, I parked behind the town hall as mentioned above.
Thank you for this beautiful route.

A very pleasant hike that starts in an olive grove and then climbs up through the mountains along a narrow, enjoyable path. There is a significant elevation gain, which adds to the character of the hike. From the ridge, there is a magnificent view of Montagne d'Angèle, La Bramard and the old village of Sahune. Do not venture onto the small ledges (Sahune alternative route and waterfall), as they are a little dangerous...

The recommended car park is large but is closed on Wednesdays from early morning due to a market that starts at 6 p.m. However, there is another car park above the town hall.
We did this hike on a really hot day, but you're often walking in the shade, so it's pretty bearable...

A beautiful circular route completed by a group of 15 hikers.
Difficulty parking the bus as there is no large enough car park near the starting point.
Did it in the direction indicated by the ridges, magnificent views.
Returned just before the rain...
Thank you for this beautiful route.

We completed the walk in the recommended direction. Due to our age (80-81 years old), we decided to stick to the suggested route, "doing" the ridge. For people of our age, and despite still being fairly mobile, we don't understand why the description didn't include a warning about the scree at the end. We found it dangerous, and not just scary for people with a fear of heights. If you take a wrong step, it could be disastrous, with a fall of hundreds of metres below. We feel that hiking poles are more essential here than ever. On this same route, after the dangerous scree slope, the "path" is particularly uneven and you have to do some serious gymnastics to get over the cruxes and bumps.
One last point: the GPS track is very approximate, with too few waypoints. Fortunately, the trail is well marked, but we would have liked a warning about its final condition, as we felt that it had deteriorated due to recent weather conditions...

A beautiful, very pleasant hike, which we did in the opposite direction. The reason being that certain sections, although not dangerous, can be intimidating for people who are afraid of heights. Which was the case! Especially on the way down!
In my opinion, it is better to take the route along the ridge, which offers multiple panoramic views...
The view of the "Giant of Provence" is magnificent. Note the very original engraved "orientation tables", on which, unfortunately, the text has almost completely disappeared.
I recommend it.
