Start from Domecy-sur-Cure town hall car park. The town hall is located in the village of Cure, near the church. The car park is next to the post office, on the left-hand side of the road when coming downhill from the D453.
No markings
(S/E) From the car park, follow the road uphill to the right. At the fork in the road, leave the war memorial on your right and turn left into the Grande Rue. Drive through the village, ignoring the departures on your left. Join the D127 road and follow it uphill to the left for about 50m.
(1) After a bus shelter on the right-hand side, leave the road and turn right onto a tarmac track. After a house, continue straight ahead on a grassy path. Further on, continue along a dirt track, passing farm sheds on your right.
(2) At the corner of the château's gîtes, turn right onto a small road that is no longer accessible to vehicles over 9.5t. Pass between a dovecote on the left and the château on the right. When the road bends to the right (cote 228), continue straight ahead (north-west) on a stony forest track.
(3) When the track bends to the right towards a metal fence, continue straight ahead on a track which enters a tight undergrowth. The track soon becomes rutted and deep: take a path on the left which runs parallel to it. After about 400m, find the path again and follow it north-west. Ignore all the departures on the sides and start downhill.
(4) When a grassy path comes from the left, continue north with a fenced-in meadow on your left. Cross a stream and immediately turn right at an acute angle. Go past a small car park to the old Pierre-Perthuis bridge.
Please note: in June and July 2002, the old bridge is being restored and cannot be used. Climb a path to the left, which joins a road at the level of an old fortified house. Follow the road to the right and cross the modern bridge over the Cure river. When the road bends to the left (headstone), turn right onto a path (apparently signposted in yellow). Follow the path until you reach the main route alongside the Cure river.
Thanks to walker mamie.jac21 for this tip-off!
Red and white + yellow markings
(5) Take the old bridge to cross the Cure. At the end of the bridge, turn right and follow the Cure on your right. There are several parallel or intersecting paths: stay as close as possible to the river and follow the signs. After a left-hand bend, come to a T-junction and turn right.
Red and white markings
(6) At the next fork in the road, take the right-hand path (leave the yellow markings to go left uphill). Pass between two derelict buildings (former Moulin de Gingon) then at the foot of a cliff (climbing site). Cross a stream and continue along the river.
(7) Pass the Barrage de Malassis and continue along the Cure.
N.B. Between points (8) and (10), the mauve line supposed to represent the GR®13 on the 1/25000 map is not always exact.
(8) At a fork, take the left-hand path. Climb up and ignore a trailhead on the left (not shown on the map). Turn left (note the Cure church steeple on the right) and climb steeply to the north (ignore a trailhead on the left).
At the top, turn right at a fork. At the T-junction, go right. Go alongside a hedge on the left and, in a left-hand bend, gain a superb view of the Cure valley on the right. Continue along the path until you reach a small road.
No markings
(10) Cross the road and head uphill on a path towards Notre-Dame de la Lumière. The path curves to the right to reach the statue, which can be seen from behind (viewpoint over the Cure valley). Retrace your steps: at the start of a well-marked path, don't miss the left-hand path you came on.
Red and white markings
(10) Follow the small road to the left and descend steeply. At the bottom, turn right and cross the Cure. When the road bends right, turn left into a cul-de-sac at the foot of a tower. Ignore a footpath on the left and climb up to the church entrance. Turn right, leaving the town hall on your right, cross the road and return to the car park (S/E).
