Description of the route

Park in the Maison du Parc car park in the abbey courtyard in Maroilles.

(S/E) Leave the abbey courtyard, join Grande Rue and turn right. Walk past the church and continue straight on Grande Rue, passing the green square with the bandstand.

(1) Take the first right, Rue du Faux. Continue straight ahead along this long street.

(2) At the end of Rue du Faux, turn left onto Chemin des Fayts and immediately, at the weather radar, takethe first right onto Rue du Mal d'Accord. Pass La Jonquière and continue to the D117 crossroads.

(3) Turn left onto Rue de Marbaix, then immediately right onto Fache de la Poutée. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Foyau crossroads.

(4) Turn right onto Rue de Cartignies, then at the T-junction, turn left onto Chemin de Dompierre.

(5) Take thefirst right, Chemin Draity, continue to the Chemin d'Autreppe junction, follow it by turning right. Pass in front of an oratory, stay on this path to reach the Pont de Pierre crossroads.

(6) Continue straight ahead on Chemin Herbu, pass an oratory on your left to reach the junction with the D117 at a chapel on your left. Follow the road straight ahead.

(7) Stay on the road, turning left onto Rue du Moulin.
You will soon reach the Moulin du Grand-Fayt. Ignore the street on the right below and continue towards the centre of the village. Cross the D232 (Rue de Maroilles) and continue straight ahead. Pass the cemetery to find a Y-junction.

(8) Turn right onto Rue de la Fontaine. Continue to the junction with Rue du Campiau.

(9) Cross it and continue straight ahead. At the T-junction, turn right and continue along this road until you reach the Route de Prisches. Shortly before the crossroads, you will find the GRP® de l'Avesnois marked in red and yellow.

(10) Make a quick first turn left then right to take Chemin des Fayts. Pass Chapelle Henriet and continue to a four-way crossroads.

(11) Turn 90° right onto Chemin de le Favril (GRP®), cross the D32 junction (with caution) and continue straight ahead. At Haie de la Ville, leave the GRP® and turn left to reach the Basse Maroilles district.

(12) Turn right onto Rue de la Basse Maroilles, walk along Ruisseau Marion on your left, rejoin the GRP® and turn into the second street on your left to reach Route de Landrecies (D959).

(13) Turn right onto Grande Rue to see the Maroilles mill on your right, then take thesecond right to return to the abbey courtyard and the car park where you started (S/E).
