Park in the car park at Pont de Fort Ville in the Cros district of Névache.
(S/E) Cross the bridge to join the wide track supporting theGR®5Cand 57. Enter the forest to join the Route Forestière (RF) du Bois Noir at a right angle.
(1) Turn right and continue on the GR®. You will come to a hairpin bend in the Draye des Moutons. From this bend, the slope becomes steeper and, after a few tight bends, you will reach the junction where the GR® trails separate.
(2) Turn right onto theGR®5C; theGR®57turns left towards Lac de l'Oule. Continue on almost flat ground to reach the crossroads at the footbridge over the Cristol stream.
(3) Leave the footbridge on your right and continue along the right bank of the stream. A short climb leads to the plateau where the lake is nestled. Head towards it.
(4) Begin the return journey along the same path until you reach the footbridge junction.
(3) Cross the stream and immediately turn onto the path on the right. Begin the descent, taking care as the slope is steep in places. At the bottom, join the Mont ThaborGRP ®.
(5) Take it to the right, pass in front of the church, then cross the village of Névache in the Ville Haute district to reach the starting car park via the road (S/E).
Nice hike, beautiful views of the Clarée Valley between points 3 and 2, nice lake also accessible from the Granon Pass but ultimately not very busy even at the beginning of August.
The trail is very rocky between points 2 and 1 on the upper half of the section.
In summer, access to Névache is blocked at Roubion, so you have to park in the car park near the tennis courts, opposite the municipal campsite "La Lame". A shuttle service is provided by the local council, but to avoid having to rely on it, you will need to walk a little further. We took the pleasant little path that climbs up the right bank of the Clarée after crossing the campsite to the Sergent Jean Tane bridge.
