Description of the walk

From the A75, take exit 32 Aire de la Lozère, follow the signs at the successive roundabouts, then follow the signs for Géoscope and Arboretum as soon as they appear. Leave your vehicle in the car park at the entrance to the geoscope.

(S/E) Walk around the Géoscope and return to the road.

(S/E) Head towards the main car park (to the left with your back to the Géoscope) and you will find the entrance to the arboretum and an information board on your right. Follow the path on the right until you reach the junction with another path on the left.

(1) Continue straight ahead to the end of the arboretum, then continue a little further into the meadow with tall pine and birch trees. Return to the arboretum junction.

(1) Continue your visit along the path on the right. It is circular and rejoins the road. Follow it to the left to return to the car park at the entrance to the geoscope (S/E).

Notes

A relaxing and informative walk, extremely easy.
There are numerous picnic tables and a "country house" selling regional products, but they are much more expensive than in shops!

Alisier, alder, birch, cherry, hazel, maple, ash, rowan, lime, willow, spruce, larch, pine and fir trees are present in the arboretum. The arboretum existed before 1999, when a storm knocked down many large trees, with around 1,200 being uprooted or stripped of their tops. From 2002 onwards, others were planted. The route is pleasant and can be extended a little into the wooded meadow.
The geoscope displays all the types of rock found in Lozère and two very attractive geological information panels.
