Description of the walk

Departure from a forest track above the Sipières buron.

(S) Leave and follow a path to the north-west that climbs through the woods (red and white GR®400 markings). Go around a spur on the right, leave the woods and arrive at the restored buron (shelter available) of Violental.

(1) Continue south on the marked path and climb through the mountain pastures towards the summit of La Cumine.

(2) Join a wide track, follow it to the left and pass under the summit of La Cumine. Head east towards Le Puy Violent.

(3) Go through a cattle gate, turn right and immediately ignore a path on the left (path closed for ground restoration).

(4) A little further on, turn left towards the summit (follow the instructions for passing). You will quickly reach the summit of Puy Violent.

(5) Retrace your steps.

(4) Continue left (east-southeast) on the main track, which descends gently.

(6) At a fork, leave the track and descend steeply to the right through the mountain pastures (follow the GR® signposts).

(7) Pass the ruins of a buron and continue downhill with the GR®.

(8) Enter the forest and descend with a few hairpin bends, still following the GR®. Pass the buron (stone hut) at Cueilhes. Further on, turn left at the hairpin bend and pass the buron at Terons.

(9) Reach the Ruisseau des Issards and descend to the right, down the steep slope.

(10) Come out onto a track and follow it to the right. Arrive at the hamlet of La Jourdanie.

(11) Continue along the access road to this hamlet and ignore two turnings on the right. Join a larger road and follow it to the right to quickly reach the hamlet of Le Fau (E).

Notes

Auberge du Fau: Solweig and Mathieu run both the inn and the lodge (below the inn).

The lodge is communal: information here and reservations through the inn. * If you have made a reservation, you can check in even if the inn is closed. (Opens at 4pm).

The lodge is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The inn is a wonderful, friendly place to relax and recharge your batteries. Our hosts offer original, tasty cuisine, and the picnics are to die for! Thank you for your warm welcome and for bringing this little village to life.

Recommendations for crossing the mountain pastures:
- Close gates behind you.
- If you see animals, remain calm. Do not try to come between a cow and her calf.

Worth a visit
