Notes

Originally, this route was proposed for the Snowshoe Festival in the Hautes-Alpes department. The FFRP therefore took part. Nearly 70 people spread out across the proposed routes. Unfortunately, the lack of snow prevented us from setting off on snowshoes. We replaced them with crampons, as the ice was very much present.

Worth a visit

The Queyras and its ski resorts.
The Col d'Izoard.

Just one comment: it would be better to do the circuit in the opposite direction.
As indicated, the descent is more difficult than if it were uphill, and the descent in the other direction is gentler.

Thanks, Papou, for your comment. I do think, however, that your finger must have slipped when you ticked the ‘Very disappointing’ box regarding the hike, as this route is far from that. But I fully respect your opinion. And I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your many outings.

I did this hike, but not following the route recommended by Visorando. I set off from the Casse Déserte car park because, at 82, I hike alone and preferred to stick to the marked and well-used route. On the same day, I visited the Col de Tronchet and Lac de Souliers in the morning – two sites that can easily be combined.
Thank you for your hiking tips.

Papou

Actually, I made a mistake in the ‘interest of the route’ section – it is a very interesting route.

Right, I'll make the changes.
And enjoy your walks in the Queyras... and elsewhere with Visorando.

A lovely walk, thank you
A quick note about the return journey
Coming down from the pass, I think you should head towards Brunissard not at the first signpost (under the stump) but at the second one (Pouit)

Otherwise, everything was perfect – a lovely walk, well signposted
Thank you again for all you do

That’s true, you’re right. We did this hike in winter and it was supposed to be a snowshoe outing. But as there was no snow, we crossed the field heading for the pylon. And we reached the Torrent des Aiguillettes without any trouble, right where the pass is signposted. Admittedly, at this time of year the fields are being worked and it is difficult to cross them, but you can clearly see by following the route and looking at the map that the normal route does indeed go via point 6. I will, to take your comment into account, amend the route as you suggest.
And best of luck on your routes in the Queyras.

A new way to tackle the Col Tronchet!
We had a bit of trouble finding our way at the start, but luckily we’d downloaded the route onto our smartphone app.
So, for the start, I’d recommend heading to point 6 via the path described for the return route; from there, the Col Tronchet via the Torrent des Aiguillettes is signposted.

Option on foot or snowshoes: follow the route described for the Col du Tronchet. Turn right onto the Crête des Glaisettes and head towards the small pass of Collet. Stunning views all the way. Descend via the run or (in winter) alongside it. At the bottom, head back up towards the start – don’t forget to stop off at Chez Marius! :-)
