Arriving via the D185, the car park is on the right, before the village entrance, after the bend once you have crossed the bridge over the Coulègne.
(S/E) Head down north-east under the chestnut trees and follow a faint path (there are several tracks) that runs alongside the river until you reach the mill, which can be glimpsed beneath the vegetation about 150 m away.
Head due west along a wide path that ends at a wire fence. Take the path on the left, which brings you back to the D185. Cross the road and head up to the wall enclosing the former La Mouleyrette holiday camp. Follow the wall to the right, pass the bus stop to reach the D153, which takes you straight to the village centre. Pass the former school.
(1) At the café-bar, turn right onto the main street. Continue to the junction with the Chemin de le Fabre.
(2) Turn left onto this path. Continue on theGR®® 6 –GR®® 67, following them to the Col des Fosses. First walk along a low stone wall, then start climbing the winding path. At the first fork, go straight on. You will cross a track.
(3) Take care here: the start ofthe GR®® is not very visible. However, once you’re on it, simply follow it to reach the Col des Fosses.
(4) Turn left, leaving theGR®® and following the yellow-markedPR®® signposting towards Saint-Roman-de-Codières and La Pierre Plantée, places indicated on a signpost. The path descends slightly. You will reach the next signpost at a fork.
(5) Continue straight on towards Le Cayrel. Do not go down to the right. The path leads to the crossroads of the three menhirs at Le Cayre.
(6) Turn right to reach the menhirs.
(7) Return to the previous crossroads.
(6) Turn right at the signpost for Font Froide, heading south-east, to descend into the valley. From here, there are no further markings. The path, which has been abandoned, is barely visible amongst the ferns. Descend steeply to the bottom of the valley and rejoin a more distinct path. Cross the Esclafar stream (often dry). You will reach a sheepfold (a tunnel covered in green tarpaulin); pass it and continue along the path for a few metres.
(8) After a left-hand bend (marked by a cairn), look out for a scree slope of small rocks below the path. Carefully descend this scree of granite rocks. You will reach an abandoned path, known as the Chemin du Queyrel. It descends erratically through the undergrowth, sometimes bordered by a low dry-stone wall. Take care, as some sections are unstable. It emerges at the hamlet of Alary, onto a small tarmac road.
(9) Take this road, passing a beautiful fountain. 50 metres after the fountain, at the entrance to the hamlet of La Rouvière (entrance not signposted), take the first path on the left, at a bend. Follow this path as it climbs through chestnut and oak trees. It runs alongside a circular bend in the Route de la Lause. Continue to a clearing and, after the 666m elevation point, turn sharply left heading due north. You will come out onto the road.
(10) Turn left and head right towards the hamlet of La Lauze. At the end of the tarmac road, take the path opposite. Descend towards the stream. Cross the meadow to reach the Pont du Gal.
(11) Turn left onto the Route du Queiroux, cross the bridge and continue to the village.
(1) Turn right onto the route in the opposite direction to the outward journey, which takes you back to the car park (S/E).
