Hike in the Rambouillet forest, but in the lesser-known and less frequented part. The Rochers d'Angennes are impressive; you don't expect to find yourself in a blue-collar atmosphere in this place. Hike from station to station with a fast TER at the end, if returning to Paris.

A lovely hike with Col de Tramouillon as your destination. The route is mainly through forest, with occasional clearings, particularly at the pass. The village of Les Faures is well worth a visit.

A challenging hike around the Torrent de l’Ascension and its three lakes. Much of the route is through woodland, and therefore in the shade in summer. Outside the forest, you’ll discover dizzying and breathtaking landscapes. At Lac de l’Ascension, you’ll find marmots and flocks of sheep.
