The Col de la Pousterle

A cool hike starting from the village of Les Vigneaux. The Col de la Pousterle can be reached by many routes, but this one takes the "Via Novo", the GR®50. At the pass, there is a view overlooking the Vallée de la Vallouise, and you can even see the front of the Glacier Blanc.

Description of the walk

Use the car park at the Courounba campsite. You can also use the car park on the right just after crossing the Gyronde bridge, as the hike passes by there (intersection of the D994E and D4).

(S/E) From the car park, head west to cross the campsite.

(1) At the intersection, at the kennel, turn left onto the path that climbs up to another path.

(2) Turn left onto a path that climbs between a clearing and a deciduous forest.

(3) At the road, follow it downhill for 50 m, then turn right onto the track that passes a few scattered houses.

(4) At the junction of three tracks, take the right-hand track which zigzags and joins a multiple junction.

(5) Leave the track and follow the GR®50 on the right (Via Novo).

(6) Continue to follow the GR®50, which alternates between short sections on the track and the path, and leads you to the Col de la Pousterle.

(7) You can make a short detour to the right to enjoy the view.
Leave the track marked GR®50, take the track that makes a large bend to the left and continue along it at the next junction.

(8) Continue straight ahead on the track.

(9) Take the small path on the right that leaves the track several times (follow the yellow markings).

(10) Cross the track and take the path opposite, which enters a clearing on the left and joins the Mélézin.

(11) Turn right onto the track that makes a hairpin bend to the left.

(12) Leave the track and turn right onto a path that descends (old signpost "les Vigneaux"). Cross a stream and arrive at an intersection.

(13) Turn right onto Via Novo, GR®50.

(14) Turn left, still on the GR®50, to descend to the intersection with a road (yellow signpost).

(15) Turn left.

(16) At the next crossroads, leave the GR®50 and continue straight ahead on the small road that leads to the campsite. Follow the signs for the campsite and you will reach the starting point (S/E).

We did this hike in two stages. First, the lower section (from D to 5, GR50 towards 13.13 to A.). Then the upper section (from 7 to 13, crossing GR50 towards 5, 5 to 7). This is an option for those who find this hike too long. Beautiful views of the Glacier Blanc, Pelvoux and Montbrison.
