Marked trail - small house
(S/E) From the car park, take the departmental road that crosses the village. At a crossroads marked by a picnic table and a sign for the Base VTT des 1000 Étangs, take a gravel path on the right.
The view stretches eastwards to the Ballon de Servance. When you reach a crossroads, you will see a pond and, on your left, a spur of green volcanic rock. Turn left twice. As soon as the path descends, you will see the hamlet of Brumbief, with its broom, heather and blueberry bushes. Continue to a bridge over the Agiot.
(1) When you reach the bridge over the Saulotte stream, turn left and follow the winding path uphill. On the right, a watering hole with a sandstone trough allows you to refresh yourself while listening to the gentle murmur of the small stream lined with alders. You will arrive at Brumbief.
(2) Cross the village on the right and, on leaving it, follow the path lined with a low wall of granite and sandstone. At the fork, continue to the right, leaving the access to Moulin Colin on your left. From there, notice the abundance of ferns on the right before entering a beech forest. Continue and turn left, crossing another stream, and follow the walled path lined with hazelnut trees. Before reaching the tarmac road at La Saulotte, you can see an old irrigation canal on the right.
(3) Turn right onto the road. Continue along the road on the left, then take the track towards Corravillers to reach the Pré Temeloup farm (stay on the left of the track).
(4) You will pass through a landscape typical of the Pays des 1000 Étangs, with birch and spruce trees. Cross the pastures and turn left after the farm. Further along the road, you will see some ruins: a farm, a bread oven, etc., evidence of a time when the population was denser. Pass the access road on the right leading to Les Saulieux and continue to the next fork, with a view of the ponds.
(5) Leave the road on the right to cross an oak grove and continue on the same side of the road. You will reach the Gourmands farm. Continue and go straight ahead at the crossroads. After the hamlet of Peutes Gouttes, continue along the track. A series of ponds and pastures follow one another along a winding path. A slight climb leads to recent farm buildings and the D236.
(6) Continue to the right towards the village of Esmoulières. On the right, you will see a modest shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary. A few old houses typical of the Southern Vosges are worth a detour in the heart of the village. (S/E)
