Go to the Tourist Office to collect the tour guide.
(S/E) In front of the Tourist Office, follow the trail marked on the ground by ‘Blue Sardines’.
The markings link fourteen points of interest, all of which are connected in one way or another to sardines.
(1) When you reach the shipyard, the footbridge may be inaccessible if a boat is being taken out for repairs.
You have two options:
* either you wait and watch the boat being winched out.
The operation takes about 30 minutes, and there are some great photo opportunities.
- or you can walk round the shipyard to reach the other side of the footbridge.
.(2) Saint-Gilles Church in Saint-Gilles-sur-Vie. A church as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside, with stunning
architectural features. Do pop in for a quick visit.
(3) La Perle des Dieux, an artisanal cannery.
If you’re keen to find out all about the little blue fish, if you’d like to learn about the history of sardine fishing in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, and if you’re looking for some excellent products, don’t hesitate – pop in.
Then continue to follow the signs to return to the starting point (S/E).
