Departure from the car park near the Marie Beaucaire hall
(S/E) From the car park, take the Marie Beaucaire promenade which runs along the mouth of the La Vie river. As you walk along, you will see the marina on the other side of La Vie (1,000 moorings plus 100 guest berths), the fish market buildings, the fishing port, the Fosse à l'Adon beaching port and the Joséphine Tower (the town's first lighthouse, built in the mid-1850s). Near the Tour Joséphine is the pier for the Île d'Yeu.
(1) At the end of this promenade, head to the Grande Jetée, which runs along the channel. It was built in 1839, with an initial section 160 metres long. The breakwater was subsequently extended by 400 metres and then by a further 250 metres at the end of 1988. Follow it to its end.
(2) At the end of the pier, retrace your steps back to the base of the pier.
(1) Take the path on the right that climbs up the Dune de la Garenne between the barriers that protect it from trampling.
At the end of the ridge path, climb up to the viewpoint.
(3) At the top, enjoy the beautiful view of the marina and the Dune de la Garenne, which is stabilised by sea grass plantations.
Descend from the viewpoint to return to the ridge path and descend on your left towards the embankment that borders the beach and on which blue beach huts stand.
(4) At the end of the embankment, after the last building, return to Avenue du Pont Neuf via the ramp leading down to the beach.
(5) Leave this avenue by taking the path on the left, the entrance to which is just before the bridge, and follow the left bank of the river "Le Jaunay". At the roundabout, head north towards the marina to return to the starting point (S/E).
