The Path of the Spirit from Beaulieu-lès-Loches

From the monastic city of Beaulieu-lès-Loches, discover little-known paths that offer unique views of the bell towers of Beaulieu and the royal city of Loches. You will walk along paths carved into the rock, across the plateau through fields, and make a detour into the forest of Loches to see the Étangs de Ferrière.

Description of the walk

Parking and departure: Cemetery car park

Red markings

(S/E) Turn right when leaving the car park, then right again to walk along the cemetery via Petite Rue des Crèmes. Cross a small path on the left after the cemetery.

(1) Take this small path, which turns into a track further on. At the end, turn right into Rue du Puits Gibert. Follow the road on the right and cross the main road to reach a fork.

(2) Take the path on the right. At the end, turn left onto the road, then immediately left again to rejoin a path. When you reach the road, turn right to enter Ferrière-sur-Beaulieu, at the town hall.

(3) Turn left into Allée du Lavoir, then, at the bend by the cemetery, continue along the path on the right. At the next crossroads, turn right onto the stabilised path to rejoin the road and the forest.

(4) At this intersection with the road, continue straight ahead on the path to enter the Forest of Loches. You will pass one pond and then arrive at a second.

(5) Facing the second pond, continue on the right. After a few metres, turn right again into a lane that leads to fields, then into a residential area. Continue to the four-way intersection with Rue de la Buhetterie.

(6) Turn left into the street. At the junction with the RD760, cross over and follow the road to the left, then turn right into Rue de la Ragotterie. After the hamlet and the silo, take the first path on the right. Pass the Cromlech de la Croix Bonnin and you will arrive at the crossroads.

(7) Continue on the left to join the path opposite, across the fields. At the crossroads, turn left along the woods, then right at the end, onto the road, to go around the Château du Pressoir.

(8) Turn right onto the tree-lined path, then continue on the left. At the crossroads, turn right onto the path, then left across the fields. You will arrive at Rue de la Tour Chevalleau.

(9) Turn left. At the end, cross Rue de Guigné, then continue along Rue des Crèmes on the right. At the end, turn left into Petite Rue des Crèmes to return to the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(1) Return to the cemetery car park by following the same route you took on the way there (S/E).
