In the national forest via the Étang de Ferrière from Ferrière-sur-Beaulieu

After a quick tour of the village of Ferrière-sur-Beaulieu, with its old priory, you will set off on an excursion that takes place almost exclusively in the forest. And what a forest! The Loches National Forest, a former royal forest and favourite playground of the kings of France when they stayed in Loches. Sometimes on the wide avenues ofthe 19th century, sometimes on small paths, you will discover hidden sites in the middle of the woods, notably the Étang de Ferrière.

Worth a visit

The Loches National Forest:
The Loches National Forest covers nearly 3,600 hectares and is now owned by the State and managed by the ONF. Formerly a royal forest, it retains its undeniable historical value with its pyramids, vast avenues and ponds. The quality of its wood is also renowned, as it is considered one of the five most beautiful oak forests in France. Its oak trees, which can reach 250 years of age and grow to over 40 metres in height, are particularly prized for the manufacture of barrels used in the finest vineyards...
