This hike is best done in dry weather, as the trail becomes muddy in the forest area in winter. This route takes you along a sunken path, alternating between open and wooded areas, making for a pleasant hike. The different biotopes encountered promote a rich biodiversity, and it is not uncommon to see squirrels darting about, the entrance to a woodpecker's nest, deer and wild boar tracks, and hear the song of chickadees.

Description of the walk

Departure from the "Saulniers" bus stop, Rue des Saulniers. If travelling by car, you can park in the car park of the church almost opposite.

(S/E) Take the passage between two houses towards the André Astoul Multipurpose Hall. Cross the car park, continuing straight ahead.

(1) Go through the small gate in the wall and turn left onto Rue des Pervenches: orange markings. Walk about a hundred metres and take the path on the right. Turn left at the crossroads and follow the path under the trees to Rue de la Fauconnière.

(2) Turn right, then take the path on the right and cross the Coulée Verte. Cross the Idavière and you will soon reach a crossroads.

(3) Take the path on the left and return to Rue de la Fauconnière.

(4) Turn right and walk for about 150 metres. Take the path on the left, cross the Idavière again and reach the Naulière via the Impasse des Peupliers.

(5) Head right to reach Rue du Sablat and follow it, turning right again. Cross the bridge over the Idavière after the last houses.

(6) Take the path on the left that enters the wooded area of Les Sangles, running alongside ponds.

(7) At the crossroads, turn right to cross the woods and then the Idavière, coming out at La Paterre on Rue des Vallées.

(8) Turn left and follow this street, which becomes Rue des Carrières further on. Continue to the Moulin Guérin crossroads.

(9) Take Rue du Meunier on the right for about 100 metres, then take the path on the left to join the D50.

(10) Cross carefully and take the path opposite. Turn left at the crossroads and continue straight ahead until you reach a three-way junction (elevation 68). Keep left and continue for about 100 metres.

(11) Turn left at a 90° angle, join a wider path and continue on the left until you reach the first housing estate at the entrance to Landeronde.

(12) Turn right onto Rue du Moulin and, in the left-hand bend, continue straight ahead to follow the path that slopes to the left and passes behind the housing estate.

(13) Turn left towards the cemetery, cross the road and continue opposite Rue des Hirondelles to reach La Davière.

(14) Leave the road and take the path on the left, which returns to the D50 at the sports grounds.

(15) Turn left and walk carefully along the road. Pass the primary school and return to the bus stop (S/E).
