Description of the walk

Park near the Clères cemetery.

(S/E) Cross the D53 road and head up the Chemin du Mouchel (or Chemin du Michel); there are signs for both on site. This path soon leads into the woodland. Join the tarmac road, turn right immediately and you’ll arrive at the Mouchel farm

(1) Carry on to the left along the track across the plain, following the trees; when you reach Le Bocasse, turn left and continue to the road, Rue de la Flaque, then turn right until you reach the junction with the local lodge.

(2) If you’re visiting in summer, take a moment to admire the banana trees on the corner, opposite the lodge. Turn right and head towards the church. After the church, turn left onto the pavement and follow it for about a hundred metres until you reach the dirt track on the left.

(3) Take this track, across the fields, to the hamlet of La Hongrie and the D6.

(4) Cross the D6 with care and take the path opposite to the hamlet of Bosc la Mer.

(5) At the junction, take the sharp left-hand bend onto Route du Calvaire and stop at the Calvary just before the wall of the last house to read the inscriptions. Return to the D6.

(6) Do not cross the road, but take the path on the right down through the fields and continue until you reach the hiking trail sign, which indicates you should turn left across the ploughed fields or crops, depending on the season.

(7) Follow this sign and rejoin a path near the trees; this path is sometimes poorly maintained at the start but improves once you enter the woods. Join the D6; always cross it with care before heading up the Impasse du Mouchel.

(1) Take the path on the right which leads back down to Clères through the woods and returns to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely little walk with views of the village and its pretty houses, as well as the theme park (closed at this time of year).
The only slight difficulty in finding your way along the route. Point 7 is in the middle of a field and, depending on the time of year, the path isn’t visible; posts in the distance might suggest it’s closed off before the forest, so don’t hesitate to cross the pasture to find the path through the woodland.

As noted in the description after number 6, the ‘hiking trail’ sign has been knocked over – no doubt by tractors (you’ll have to look for it and find it) – then you cross the ploughed field for 100 metres, before finally reaching the start of a path.As it is impassable due to brambles 2 metres high, we are forced to zigzag between the open ground and the edge of the path. It’s a real shame that it isn’t maintained. We come across a good path again on the way back, at the edge of the woodland.
