Circular loop on the Foulées Bolhardaises plateau

Walk on the site of the Foulées bolhardaises, an annual event for walkers and runners. A walk to get some fresh air, stretch your legs or keep fit. Mainly in a built-up area, so largely on tarmac roads but fairly quiet, and for a short section on farm tracks, also fairly quiet. 1½-hour alternative route.

Description of the walk

Start from the car park at Bosc-le-Hard church.

(S/E) Set off from the church car park, heading up towards the town hall along the street known as Place du Marché, in the direction of Rouen (south-east). Pass by the bakery, the post office and the town hall, and reach the town hall roundabout.

(1) Turn right onto Rue du Mesnil-Halot and continue to the junction with Chemin des Soupirs.

(2) Continue along Rue du Mesnil-Halot, turning left (south) to leave the village and follow the road to the Mesnil-Halot crossroads.

(3) As you approach the small wood on the right, turn right and follow the path then the road to the first crossroads on the Cressieusemare plain.

(4) Turn left (south-west) to enter the hamlet of Cressieusemare. Cross the small hamlet, following the street to the four-way crossroads.

(5) Turn right and follow the Route de Cressieusemare straight on (north-east) to return towards Bosc-le-Hard. When you reach the Ferme du Réel, leave it on your left and continue straight on to Avenue du Réel, in the village. Turn right towards the church and head back to the starting point via Avenue du Réel.

(S/E) Opposite, take the street known as Place des Halles, heading towards Saint-Saëns (east), until you reach the junction with Rue des Forges.

(6) Turn left onto Rue des Forges and follow it until you reach the junction with the street known as Chemin des Mobiles, after crossing the railway line.

(7) Turn right onto this street, then leave Bosc-le-Hard via the D25 towards Saint-Saëns (east). Continue to the junction with Rue de la Chapelle.

(8) At the fork in the road, leave the D25 by turning left onto Rue de la Chapelle, towards the hamlet of Augeville (north-east), and head towards it.

(9) After passing the chapel, turn right onto Rue du Bel Event to leave the hamlet and then rejoin the D25.

(10) Leave Rue du Bel Event by turning right onto the D25 and head down towards Bosc-le-Hard until you reach the entrance to the farmyard, about 50 metres further on. Leave the D25 by turning left towards the railway line. Follow the path to the railway line, cross it and continue to the highest point at altitude 172.
Please note: do not take the first path opposite the exit from Augeville, but continue down the D25.

(11) Continue straight on (south-west) to the hamlet of Rue Vilaine, leaving the Bosc-le-Hard water tower on your right.

(12) At the end of the street, but before the D57 road (known as Rue Villaine), take the small path on the right (north-west). Continue to Rue Gobelaine and go straight on to return to the starting roundabout.

(1) Turn right to return to the church car park (S/E).

Over 80% of the route is on tarmac. After several months of rain and a few days of snow, this was exactly what we were looking for. A pleasant walk, taking in Bosc le Hard and several neighbouring hamlets. Quiet country lanes and very few walkers on this last Sunday in January, despite the fine weather. No difficulty, but best done after a spell of rain to avoid the mud.

An easy route, but too much of it is on the road
