(S/E) Car park in Laissey, on the left bank of the Doubs, on the right after the bridge, leaving the village behind you. Yellow-blue markings. Follow the D30 for 300 metres towards Champlive.
(1) Then, after the Chute de Pierres sign, climb up to the right along the path (towards Ruines de Vaite). You will soon reach a wider gravel road, continuing to climb to the right. At the forks, follow the markings.
(2) Cross the main road and continue along the path opposite. At the top, after the path has passed between a small rock gorge, continue to the right. The castle ruins are private property. Continue to the viewpoint on the right, leaving the path. Unfortunately, the viewpoint is poorly maintained and only offers a view of the Doubs valley in autumn and winter.
(3) Return to the path and continue to the right for just under 2 km, following the signs through a beautiful, airy forest.
(4) At the junction of paths forming a triangle, ignore the markings and go up to the right despite the crosses. Follow the markings with two white bars. (Do not go down towards Vairs-Arcier). 300 metres higher, at a boundary stone, go down the track on the left.
(5) At the next marker, turn right onto the perpendicular path that will take you down into the Vallée sans Vacherie(Valley without Cattle), despite its name, always following the widest and most clearly marked path. Once again, you will pass through airy, light-filled woods. At the river, turn right onto the stony path that will take you back to the car park.
(6) Just before this, don't miss the small path on the right leading to the pretty Rougnon waterfall. (S/E)
The route includes cliffside paths and unsecured viewpoints. The paths are rocky and slippery in places. Sturdy footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended.
