(S) Car park in Dammartin opposite the town hall (war memorial). First part without markings. Sparse yellow-blue markings in the second part.
Walk up Grande Rue towards the village centre and immediately turn left into Rue de l'Église to visit the church. Return to Grande Rue and turn left until you reach the village exit. At the calvary, turn right into Rue de Chatoillon. Pass the first street on your right and, at the crossroads, turn right down Rue de Ceran. The first few kilometres are on a quiet, traffic-free paved road.
(1) Shortly after the farm sheds, you will come to a triple fork: continue straight ahead on the left-hand lane. At the entrance to the Dammartin communal forest, immediately pass a path on your left. This beautiful pine forest gives this little corner of Franche-Comté a Landes-like appearance. 400 metres further on, look for a small path on the right that will take you to a beautiful pond where you may spot a few grey herons. Do not try to walk all the way around it, as you will be blocked by brambles or the marsh. Return to the road and continue to the right.
(2) At the edge of the woods, 400 metres after the pond, turn left onto the stony path towards the edge of the woods. Walk twenty steps and take the slightly overgrown path on the right, which will lead you to the karstic well where the Seu stream flows into. Be careful, the chasm is not protected. Turn back.
(2) Continue to the left. You will enter a fir forest in the Aiguillon Forest.
(3) When the fir forest ends on the right-hand side of the road, ten steps further on, look for a path on the left that doesn't look like much but quickly becomes passable and not unpleasant. It leads you into the fields where you turn left, following the edge to find a gravel road, then a tarmac road, and reach Bretigney-Notre-Dame.
(4) In Rue du Bois Joli, at a charming fountain, you will find the yellow-blue markings. Turn left up Rue du Muguet. After taking a look at another beautiful fountain, turn right, passing in front of the church, and join the D112. Turn right towards Silley-Bléfond. At another fountain, take a moment to look to your right at the old Boillot inn, dating from 1826, with its painted sign and cul-de-four oven. Turn left onto Chemin d'Ougney and continue uphill along the path that extends from it.
(5) In a more open area, you will come to a path that you will climb on the left. You will re-enter the woods. When the path begins to descend, ignore a path on the right. You will reach a gravel road which you follow downhill to the left. At a No Entry sign, you will arrive at a hunting car park. Continue downhill, ignoring the path that branches off to the right.
(6) Take the second path on the right, before the exit from the woods. Continue along this beautiful gravel forest path until it ends and continue along the path on the left. You will soon come to a fork; continue straight ahead. Much higher up, at the foot of a plasticised marker, there is another fork; take the right-hand path uphill to the ridge, where you will turn left. This is a beautiful ridge path, with views between the trees and beautiful crevices in the cornices.
(7) Between two of them, at a stone marker and forest signs 13, 12, 41 and 28, carefully head to the far right (no path) and without going too far to the left towards the depression in the ground which is very close to the cliffs towards the Rocher de la Louvière promontory and its unsecured viewpoint over the Doubs valley, above Ougney-les-Champs, from the Montagne d'Aigremont to the Vosges. Do not attempt this if you do not have walking sticks. Return to the ridge line. A little further on, there is a small unsecured viewpoint over Roulans. The path widens and gradually moves away from the ridge line. You will cross a more open area.
(8) When you return to the undergrowth, pass forest sign 23 and a path that climbs up from the left. At the crossroads, about twenty metres further on, turn left for about thirty steps and leave this wide path for the path on the right, towards the Rechandet viewpoint. You will walk along a new, more wooded ridge. You will soon arrive at Rocher du Rechandet, a viewpoint offering a 180° view of the Doubs valley, from Besançon to Baume-les-Dames, Mont de Souvance and Montagne Notre-Dame-d'Aigremont, and on the right, the Vosges mountain range, which is not as blue as it seems! The viewpoint is unsecured, but it offers a beautiful, peaceful spot for a snack while enjoying the view.
(9) Leave the rock by staying on the widest path and, 100 metres below, at the Le Templenois signpost, descend to the left via the cart track, forest signpost no. 17. If you come to a stone marker and signpost no. 3, you have gone too far. Retrace your steps for a hundred metres. From this point onwards, although marked (sparingly), the paths are not well maintained, but are still perfectly passable.
(10) You will come to a gravel road, which you will follow up to the right. At the hunting car park, take the path on the left, which is a little grassy at first. Very soon, you will come to a fork at the foot of a large beech tree. Continue straight ahead on the right-hand path. There are few or no markings, but there are no side paths either. Stay on this moderately maintained path, which is easy to follow.
(11) At the fork, near forest sign no. 8 and a Templar cross, take the short path on the right to join the gravel road, following it to the left for about 100 metres. Just before the large gravel area (car park or wood storage), head back into the woods on the left via a path that doesn't look like much (the marker has been torn off), but which quickly becomes a beautiful forest trail that descends in a straight line to the bottom of the wooded hillside.
(12) At the bottom, you will come across some sharp limestone pavements, which you should cross carefully, heading towards the small clearing opposite. Be careful! About twenty metres below the sharp limestone pavements, there is a fence on the ground with treacherous barbed wire that could trip you up. Head into the clearing, weaving your way through the beautiful ferns. Look for the bell tower on your left and use it as a guide to exit the pasture through a gap below (there may be a gate to open). Turn right onto the small road that takes you back to Dammartin and, at the stop sign, turn left back up towards the car park.
The route passes close to a chasm and includes ledge paths and unsecured viewpoints. The paths are rocky and slippery in places. Sturdy footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended.
, especially in autumn. However, we were well equipped with walking shoes and poles. Do not cut across the fields as indicated. Take a sharp left to rejoin the road

. The description was quite accurate, so that's GOOD.
