(S/E). From the wash house or the statue of the Virgin Mary in Champlive, take the main road towards Laissey. The first yellow and blue sign is on a large tree by the side of the road (these signs will be present throughout the route).
(1) After walking about 250 metres along this road, turn right after the small field. Then climb up into the village via a fairly steep road. Continue along this road and leave the village to reach the woods. The tarmac then gives way to a path.
(2) When you reach the hunting lodge, turn left. At the top of this hill, pay attention to the markings as you will need to take a path on the right that leads into the vegetation. Lined with tall trees, this path crosses a sparse forest to reach the ridge.
(3) Pass under the high-voltage power line and you will see a yellow and blue mark on the pylon supporting it. Continue to Rocher du Rechandet.
(4) The trail then runs along a large section of the ridge and offers magnificent views of the Doubs valley and the villages of Roulans and Ougney-Douvot in places.
(5) When this ridge path descends a little, you will see a white metal cross, which means you are halfway along the route. At this point, turn right onto a wider path. This path descends to a small road. Take it to the right and continue for 1.5 km along the road/path.
(6) The next change of direction will be a path sloping to the left. Be careful not to miss it, or you will have to return by the same route you took on the way there. Then descend gently along a path through the woods. Finally, return to the village of Champlive (S/E) by passing alongside pastures.
