Description of the walk

Park at Pleynon, which can be reached via the small road between Saint-Hugues de Chartreuse and the Col du Coq.

(S/E) Head south on the track that overlooks the Pleynon meadow at the start, then continue through the forest.

(1) When you reach a wider track, marked by a cairn at the intersection, turn right. The track is fairly level at first, then climbs before reaching L'Emeindras.

(2) Follow the trail to the left across the meadow and you will soon reach the barns of L'Emeindras de dessus, where you will also join theGR®9.

(3) Follow the small trail to the left, south-east, straight up the slope to reach the 1491m summit, then continue left on theGR®9and descend following the ridge to the Col de la Faïta, which has two signs, the first at 1425m and the second at 1410m.
Leave two paths on the left, including theGR®9, shortly after the 1410m sign.

(4) Then begin the steep climb to Bec Charvet. This path is not marked on maps and is unmarked. It follows the ridge and leads to the open space of Bec Charvet at 1738m

(5). 360° panorama. Descend northwards towards the Col du Coq, visible from the summit. The path is still unmarked but remains visible and steep. It eventually leads to a clearing, which is none other than an old ski slope.

(6) As you descend due north, note the old foundation blocks of the pylons on the left; vegetation is gradually reclaiming its rights.
The descent will inevitably end on the track that supports theGR®9.

(7) Turn left; the track will soon start to climb again and turn into a path.
TheGR® will descend again to join a wide track.

(8) Continue left towards the south, and quickly leave theGR® which climbs back up the slope to the left.
Stay on the track and continue until you reach the crossroads you passed at the start of the hike and its cairn.

(1) Descend to the right along the same path you took on the way up to return to the car park (S/E).

A lovely walk completed in 3 hours and 10 minutes, with no difficulty in this very dry month of October. But it is certainly slippery after rain.
Be careful between points 6 and 7, as there is no path; you have to descend while keeping the viewpoint on the road in the distance.
Thank you for this route.

Walked from St-Hughes-en-Chartreuse to the start of the hike because the road was closed due to forestry work. A Monday in autumn: no one around. Dry ground: fortunately for the climb up and down the summit. Superb view from the summit.

Superb hike, very well described, with a superb view when you reach the summit.
However, it can be classified as "difficult +" when done the day after it rains! : slippery climb and dangerous descent (mud and slippery rocks).

Hello
A very beautiful hike, the path is very well marked for the ascent to Bec Charvet and for the descent too, except at the bottom, but it is quite easy to rejoin the GR trail... very beautiful view at the summit... This route is not very busy, which is far from unpleasant... For your information, there is no longer a cairn at the crossroads between the yellow-marked PNR trail and the forest track (at point (1) in the description), but this does not pose any orientation problems if you have a map.

Hello everyone,
A very interesting hike.
The panoramic view from the peak is magnificent!
The descent between Bec Charvet and the old ski slope is steep but clear (do not attempt if it has rained recently).
On 8 July 2016, we encountered a flock of lambs guarded by a Patou dog who was very aware of his role. He forced us to make a tricky detour under a temporary fence!

Hello, Magnifique, please be careful on the Faita --> Col du Coq section because, due to logging activities, part of the route is closed, but there are signs to detour via the forest road below the original route.
