The descent begins through mountain pastures where we encounter numerous herds of livestock.
Please note: the trail is sometimes difficult to find and navigate due to the numerous herd passages (water, mud, uneven ground, multiple paths created by the animals, etc.). Look for the markers and follow them to stay on track.
However, the landscape is magnificent: pine trees, mountain pastures and surrounding mountains.
The descent then continues to San Marti d'Envalls (a magnificent Romanesque chapel), but the landscape gradually changes as you enter the pine trees and then the deciduous trees. A superb forest!
(S) From Lac des Bouillouses, take theGRP® du Tour du Carlit (yellow and red) again and head towards Cerdagne via the Vallée de l'Angoustrine.
(1) After the lake, turn left.
(2) After the chapel, leave the Angoustrine Valley and follow a wide forest track (still markedGRP®) to the ridge above Les Escaldes and Dorres. Reach the Nartigues shelter, which offers a wide view of Cerdagne from the Cabane de Nartigues.
(3) Begin a steep descent to reach Les Escaldes (an old sanatorium in ruins).
Be careful on the rutted path.
(4) Turn right onto the D10, which also follows the GRP®. Make a short detour via the Dorres baths.
(5) Cross Dorres and begin another climb to the Coll de Juell (a steep 100-metre climb), still following theGRP® markings and detailed local signs.
(6) Continue downhill to Brangoli, a beautiful little hamlet, then to the dolmen at the edge of the path.
(7) Take theGRP® again to cross the hamlet of Feners. At the exit of the hamlet, the trail climbs again and joins the road that leads to the bottom of the valley at Mas de Franc (E).
